$3M+ bond set for 71-year-old drug suspect

A more than $3 million bond has been set for a suspect facing drug 
charges after a Friday arrest.
According to Wayne County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Geoffery 
Clark, investigators executed a search warrant of an apartment on River 
Road. The search warrant was issued after the department received 
numerous complaints from the community about drug activity taking place 
at the residence.
After executing the search warrant, Marvin Monroe Johnson, 71, was taken 
into custody. He is being charged with possession of cocaine with intent 
to distribute within 1,500 feet of charge while in possession of a 
firearm, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute within 
1,500 feet of a church while in possession of a firearm, trafficking 
methamphetamine within 1,500 while in possession of a firearm and 
possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The drug charges are all considered felony charges, and Johnson has been 
labeled as a habitual offender.
Justice Court Judge Charles Chapman set Johnson's bond at $3,505,000.
If convicted, Johnson would face a maximum penalty of 185 years in 
prison.
According to Clark, the suspect spent time in a Florida prison for a 
number of years.
Assisting the the Sheriff's Department on the case were agents from the 
Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
