Investigators with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office are investigating
the discovery of a body in Buckatunna Tuesday night.
Sheriff' Jerry "Juice" Mosley confirmed that a body was discovered
around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at 292 Red Creek Church Road in Buckatunna.
Mosley said the house was vacant and the owner of the home lives in
Chicago.
Identified as the deceased was Jacob Lee Reynolds, a 38-year-old white
male. According to his Alabama driver's license, his address was in
Fruitdale, Ala. Family members and other pertinent people have been
notified of his death.
According to Mosley, the body was discovered roughly 50 yards from the
vehicle that Reynolds owned. The vehicle was parked up a driveway at the
residence. Mowers who had come to mow the grass at the residence
discovered the body and contacted law enforcement.
Mosley said other evidence was also recovered around the area.
Wayne County Deputy Coroner Blake Kelly pronounced Reynolds dead, and
the sheriff said estimates were he had been deceased for roughly 24
hours.
Lacerations were found on the body, but Mosley said he couldn't go into
further details as this is an ongoing investigation.
"We are gathering information and the body has been sent to Biloxi for
an autopsy," Mosley said. "Before we can make any type of determination
on cause of death, the autopsy needs to be completed."
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the
Sheriff's Department at 601-735-3801 or download the Crimestoppers app
and submit information that way.
