ERMA LEE PUGH

Funeral services for Erma Lee Pugh, 100, of Waynesboro, will be

conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024 from the Chapel of

Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev. Curtis Cain officiating.

Following the service, interment will take place at New Hope Cemetery in

Waynesboro.

Born in Wayne County on Sunday, June 22, 1924 to the late Mallie Bonner

and Clara (Dyess) Bonner, she was a member of Waynesboro First Methodist

Church. She retired as a Department Store Clerk.

She died on Monday, Aug. 12, 2024 at her residence.

She is survived by her five nephews and their respective spouses, Jerry

and Robin Bonner of Waynesboro, Dale and Debbie Bonner of Quitman, Gary

and Linda Bonner of Waynesboro, Redell and Faye Bonner of Waynesboro and

Glen and Barbara Graham of Shubuta; and four nieces and their respective

spouses, Carol and Kenny Atman of Slidell, La., Kay and Bobby Jones of

Waynesboro, Glenda Graham of Meridian and Gayla and Mike Newell of

Waynesboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Pugh; her father,

Mallie Bonner; her mother, Clara (Dyess) Bonner; two brothers, O.E.

"Pete" Bonner and Cecil Bonner; her sister, Thelma Graham; and a

nephew, Ronnie Graham.

Pallbearers will be Dale Bonner, Gary Bonner, Redell Bonner, Glen

Graham, Eddie Riglan and Baron Graham. Honorary pallbearers will be

Jerry Bonner, Larry Gandy, Keith Stanley, Ronnie Brewer, Tom Becton,

Russell Herring and James McIlwain.

ANGELA LYNN "ANGEL" COOK

May 23, 1982-Aug. 8, 2024

A memorial visitation for Angela Lynn "Angel" Cook, 42, of

Waynesboro, will be conducted from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024

from the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday, May 23, 1982, she died on Thursday,

Aug. 8, 2024 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her husband, Chester Ray Cook III of Waynesboro; her

mother, Cynthia Smith of Waynesboro; her son and daughter-in-law,

Sebastian and Cierra Cook of Waynesboro; her daughter, Alyssa Cook of

Waynesboro; her sister and brother-in-law, Jessica and Emmanuel Knight

of Biloxi; and three nieces, Kaitlyn Ralls, Kathryn Ralls and Makenzye

Holloman.

In lieu of flowers, Angel's wish was for donations to be made to

Alyssa's college fund.

BETTY (DYKES) ABRELL

July 26, 1938-Aug. 11, 2024

Graveside services for Betty (Dykes) Abrell, 86, of Waynesboro, were

conducted on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024 from West Shady Grove Cemetery, with

Dr. Steve Smith officiating.

Born in Waynesboro on Tuesday, July 26, 1938 to the late Leroy and

Georgia Dykes, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro.

She retired as Co-Owner and Operator of HMS of Southwest Florida.

She died on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024 at Pine View Health and Rehabilitation

in Waynesbro.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Brigitte

Britton, Jr., of Waynesboro; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry

and Carolyn Dykes and Gary and Linda Dykes, all of Waynesboro, and Leroy

and Sylvia Dykes of Brookhaven; three sisters-in-law, Sharon Dykes,

Sarah Dykes and Clara Dykes; her granddaughter, Haley DiMartino of

Brandon; and her great-granddaughter, Britton DiMartino of Brandon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Abrell; three

brothers, Billy Ray Dykes, George Dykes and Troy Dykes; and two sisters,

Helen Brown and Johnnie Mae Snyder.

OUIDA BRANSON MCILWAIN

Dec. 20, 1936-Aug. 9, 2024

Funeral services for Ouida Branson McIlwain, 87, of Aquilla, Ala., were

conducted on Monday, Aug. 12, 2024 from the Chapel of Phillips Funeral

Home in Gilbertown, Ala., with Rev. Fred Toomey and Rev. Mitchell Smith

officiating.

Interment followed at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Aquilla.

Born on Dec. 20, 1936 in Millry, Ala., to Barney and Iva Branson, she

had many interests. She loved cooking, gardening and shopping. When she

was unable to go shopping, she didn't let that deter her. She would just

do her shopping from home on the Home Shopping Network!

She also enjoyed watching soap operas and her favorite sports teams ---

the Atlanta Braves, New Orleans Saints and the Crimson Tide. She loved

all of her family but had a special place in her heart for her

grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She died on Friday, Aug. 9, 2024 in Waynesboro.

She is survived by her husband, Lamar McIlwain of Aquilla; her sons and

daughters-in-law, Bob and Virginia Hall of Flinstone, Ga., and Eddie and

Mary Etta Chancey of Waynesboro and Kevin "Nut" and Denise Chancey of

Silas, Ala.; her daughters and sons-in-law, Debra M. and Bubba Carlisle

of Gilbertown and Suzie M. and Keith Kayda of Silas; her brother and

sister-in-law, Walter Frank and Joette Branson of Mobile, Ala.; a

special sister-in-law in Jean Branson of Aquilla; 11 grandchildren, 10

great-grandchildren and a special friend in Patricia McIlwain of Silas.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Barney Branson; her

mother, Iva Becton Branson; her brothers, Gray Branson and Phillip

Branson; and a sister, Mary Helen Branson.

Serving as pallbearers were Walker Chancey, Ethan Chancey, Jordan

Chancey, Robert Hall, Luke Hall and Adam Kittrell. Honorary pallbearers

were Mason Kittrell, Chancey Kittrell and Judah Kemp.
