Born on Friday, Sept. 15, 1939, he was a member of Pleasant Grove Church
of Christ.
He died on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023 at Wayne General Hospital.

Aug. 14, 1937-Sept. 20, 2023
Graveside services for Annie Ruth Cox, 86, of Waynesboro, were conducted
on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023 from Cross Roads Cemetery, with Brother
Kelton Lee officiating.
Born in Needham, Ala., on Sunday, Aug. 14, 1937 to John Doggett and
Gladys Flemming Doggett, she was a member of Cross Roads Methodist
Protestant Church. She worked as a Fabric Cutter at Quitman Knitting
Mill.
She died on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023 at Pine View Health and
Rehabilitation in Waynesboro.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Frank Fuqua of
Andalusia, Ala.; her sister, Sue Doggett; three grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. "Buddy" Cox; her father,
John Doggett; her mother, Gladys Fleming Doggett; her daughter, Barbara
Ann "Penny" Barlow Walley; her brother, Raymond Doggett; and her sister,
Faye Doggett Massey.

Funeral services for Kristie Barnett, 52, of Waynesboro, were conducted
on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home,
with Rev. Tom Walker officiating.
Interment followed at Hebron Cemetery.
Born in Meridian on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 1971 to Hubert D. Butler and Mamie
Sue Perry, she worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Rush Hospital in
Meridian.
She died on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023 at her residence.
She is survived by her mother and her husband, Mamie Sue and Justin
Perry of Waynesboro; her son, Gerald Thomas Barnett II of Waynesboro;
her granddaughter, Zoie Barnett of Waynesboro; her brother and
sister-in-law, Hugh and Tamara Butler of Waynesboro; two nephews, Ryan
Butler and Ethan Butler of Waynesboro; and a niece, Amber Butler of
Waynesboro.
She was preceded in death by her father, Hubert D. Butler.

GRADY PARNELL
Feb. 2, 1942-Sept. 16, 2023
Funeral services for Grady Parnell, 81, of Waynesboro, were conducted on
Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with
Rev. Phillip Gandy officiating.
Interment followed at Waynesboro Cemetery.
Born in Waynesboro on Monday, Feb. 2, 1942 to the late Dan and Alice
Parnell, he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He retired from the
United States Army after serving for 21 years, and he later retired a
second time after working for another 23 years with the Mississippi
State Forestry Commission.
He died on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 at Forrest General Hospital in
Hattiesburg.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Chun "Kim" Parnell of
Waynesboro; his daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Kurt Brueggemann of
Cincinnati, Ohio; his brother, Terry Parnell of Waynesboro; his sister
and brother-in-law, Frances and Ronnie James of Waynesboro; two
granddaughters, Eloise and Hazel Brueggemann of Cincinnati; his
sister-in-law and her spouse, Young and Joseph Green of Findlay, Ohio;
his nephew and his wife, Adam and Megan Doup of Findlay; and a host of
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Alice Parnell; his
daughter, Alicia Parnell; his brother, Gary Parnell; and four sisters,
Doris Bunch, Janice Pippen, Peggy Mozingo and Shelia Stuart.

KENNETH MARSHALL DOHERTY

Funeral services for Kenneth Marshall Doherty, 68, of Waynesboro, were
conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023 from the Chapel of Freeman
Funeral Home, with Rev. Dixie Holder-Cummings and Rev. Paul Harris
officiating.
Interment followed at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
Born in Waynesboro on Thursday, Feb. 10, 1955 to the late Gaines
Marshall Doherty and Carolyn Duvall Doherty, he was a member of Calvary
Baptist Church. He retired as a Self-Employed Drilling Fluids Engineer.
He died on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 at Comfort Care Nursing Center in
Laurel.
He is survived by his son, Adam G. Doherty of Laurel; his daughter,
Jeanie Lynn Phillips of Taylorsville; four grandchildren, Jesslyn,
Natalie, Tayler and Joshua; foru great-grandchildren, Carson, Avery,
Braylon and Tyleigh; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaines Marshall and Carolyn
Duvall Doherty; a brother, Gary Gaines Doherty; and a sister, Carol Jean
Bunch.
