Funeral services for June Carol Cochran, 88, of Waynesboro will be at 1

p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home,

with Rev. Mitchell Smith, Rev. Paul Harris and Rev. Ron Swindall

officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec.

22, 2022 from the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home.

Following the funeral service, interment will take place at White House

Cemetery.

Born on Sunday, Sept. 23, 1934 to the late John Carroll Kendrick and

Susie Kendrick, she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Sheron Cochran

and Jerry and Rhonda Cochran, all of Clara; two daughters and

sons-in-law, Sue and Lonnie Williams of State Line and Sharon and Randy

Beard of Clara; two brothers, Hubert Kendrick of Waynesboro and Charles

Kendrick of Petal; a sister, Linda Cancienne of Magnolia; nine

grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy "Sput" Cochran; her

father, John Carroll Kendrick; her mother, Susie Kendrick; three

brothers, George Kendrick, Willard Kendrick and Bobby Kendrick; and

three sisters, Betty Leonard, Jeanette Jones and Laura Clanton.

Pallbearers will be Austin Swindall, Steven Cochran, Chad Beard, Andy

Cochran, Ethan Cochran, Chuck Hardee and Caleb Swindall.

ERNEST SHIRLEY

March 2, 1942-Dec. 17, 2022

Funeral services for Ernest Shirley, 80, of Grenada, were conducted on

Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022 at the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel,

with Brother Barry Worrell officiating.

Interment followed at Oddfellows Cemetery in Grenada.

Born on March 2, 1942 in Waynesboro, he was one of seven children born

to Nealie and Birdie Shirley. He was employed by Frito Lay as a route

salesman until his retirement. He was an active member of Emmanuel

Baptist Church of Grenada until recent years.

He died on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022 at UMMC in Grenada.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John and Patty Shirley

of Waynesboro; four children and their respective spouses, Janet and

Charlie Kiser of Magee and Judy Shirley, Kay Barry and Billy Wayne

Shirley, all of Laurel; four stepchildren, Theresa Jones, Jim Slaton,

Rebecca Potts and Pattie Flowers; 18 grandchildren, 27

great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nealie and Birdie Shirley; his

wife, Inez Shirley; and five siblings, Frank Shirley, Nealie Shirley,

Jr., Faye Dyess, Paul Shirley and Virginia Stevens.

Pallbearers were his grandson, Chris Rogers, and members of his church,

including Sammy Brasher, Fred Oswalt, Bill James and Kenny Adams.

JAMES "JIM" DONALD EASTMAN

June 25, 1956-Dec. 6, 2022

A Celebration of Life ceremony honoring Jim Eastman, 66, of Chatom,

Ala., was conducted from his home on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022.

Born on June 25, 1956 in Union City, Penn., his family moved to Grove

Hill, Ala., when he was 8 years old. He graduated from Clarke

Preparatory Academy in 1974. He attended Living University, where he

received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1978.

Jim had many professional endeavors, some of those including working for

Scott Paper Company, horticulture businesses and Chatom Motor Company,

all before owning The Feed Mill in Waynesboro.

Anyone who knew Jim was touched by his kindness, sense of humor and love

of his family. He was an amazing father who loved his children more than

anything else in the whole world. He was the best Pawpaw to his

grandchildren, who truly adored him.

Jim had so many great friends and never met a stranger. If he was not

cracking jokes in town, dropping off a bag of feed or ordering flowers,

you could find him outside working in his yard. One of his favorite

pastimes was skiing and boating on the Tombigbee River.

He died on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Rachel

Eastman; his daughter and son-in-law, Brittany and Bradley Ethridge; his

brother and sister-in-law, John and Lynn Eastman; his sister, Peggy

Eastman Weldon; and five grandchildren, Langston, Jax, Layla, Honor and

Branson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank "Deke" and Bernice

Wallace Eastman; and his sister, Nancy Eastman Harp.
