Funeral services for Edna Muriel Thompson, 78, of Waynesboro, will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Ainsworth, Rev. Mike Street, Rev. Bernie Fleming and Rev. Mark Guy officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021 from the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home.

Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Corinth Cemetery.

Born in Chunky on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1943 to William Fred Loper and Rosie Nell Loper, she was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the New Orleans Saints.

She died on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021 at her residents, surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Thompson of Waynesboro; three daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Eric White of Waynesboro, Jennifer and Michael Roy Dixon of Millry, Ala., and Crystal and John Pearson of State Line; a daughter-in-law, Cissy Thompson of Clara; two sisters, Judy Lofton and Joyce Revette, both of Waynesboro; 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a special grandchild, Addison Torrey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Thompson; her father, William Fred Loper; her mother, Rosie Nell Loper; a son, William Thompson; two brothers, Don Loper and Raymond Yates; and three sisters, Peggy O'Berry, Linda Palmer and Patsy Holifield.
