GEORGE W. "G.W." MASHBURN

Feb. 3, 1969-Sept. 18, 2026

A graveside service for George W. "G.W." Marshburn, 57, of Buckatunna, 
were conducted on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026 from Chicora-Davis Cemetery in 
Chicora, with Rev. Michael Beckwith and Rev. Mitchell Smith officiating.

Born in Waynesboro on Monday, Feb. 3, 1969 to the late Billy Wade 
Mashburn, Sr., and Mary Alice Howse Mashburn, he worked several years at 
The Wayne County News and, in his later years, worked in construction 
until becoming disabled.

He died on Friday, Sept. 18, 2026 at Select Specialty Hospital in 
Jackson.

He is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sherri Bradley of 
Millry, Ala., and Sharmain and Terry Hutto of Chicora; two brothers, 
Billy Mashburn, Jr., of Chicora and Fred Mashburn of Buckatunna; his 
sister-in-law, Ann Corley of Winchester; B.J. Crawley of Buckatunna, who 
he raised like a son; two nephews, Eric Hutto of Chicora and Bobo 
Mashburn of Buckatunna; two nieces and their spouses, Mary Ann and Shaun 
Waite of Millry and Rebekah Hutto Auvil of Chicora; a host of great- and 
great-great nieces and nephews; two aunts and their spouses, Lola 
Campbell of Chicora and Sarah and Pat McCaffrey of Gulfport; and special 
friends in Brenda Harvey and the staff at Annie's House in Boyte.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Wade Mashburn, Sr., and 
Mary Alice Howse Mashburn; two nephews, Johnny Mashburn and Mark Hutto; 
and his brother-in-law, Barkley Bradley.

MARY ELIZABETH ATCHISON GRIMES-CASEY

Nov. 20, 1944-Sept. 16, 2026

Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Atchison Grimes-Casey, 81, of 
Millry, Ala., were conducted on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026 from Pleasant 
Hill Baptist Church in Millry, with Rev. Mike Rasberry officiating.

Interment followed at Providence Cemetery in Millry.

Born on Nov. 20, 1944 to Lomax and Eliza Atchison in Yarbo, Ala., she 
enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was well known for her 
cooking, especially her divinity, peanut brittle and fudge.

She died on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026 at Brookwood Villa in Waynesboro.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, William "Bill" and 
Mable Grimes and Charles and Renee Grimes; her daughter and son-in-law, 
Jane Elizabeth Grimes and Mackey Koen; her brother and sister-in-law, 
Otis Hilton and Avis Atchison; her sisters-in-law, Margaret Gardner and 
Alice and Mike Carlisle; her brother-in-law, Robert and Becky Grimes; 
six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Allen Grimes and Roy 
Casey; her daughter, Mary Susan Grimes; her great-grandchild, Michael 
Rowan Sumrall; her father, Lomax Hilton Atchison; and her mother, Eliza 
Jane Jones Atchison.

Pallbearers were Dexter Koen, Brandon Sumrall, Britton Sumrall, Joseph 
Grimes, D.J. Domazet and Hunter Grimes.
