Graveside services for Bernard Jackson, Jr., 69, of the Bronx, New York, 
will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from New Hope Unity 
Cemetery in Citronelle, Ala.
Born on Jan. 5, 1957, he was a former Postal Worker and a Transit 
Authority employee with the City of New York.
He died on Monday, June 8, 2026 in the Bronx.
He is survived by his son, Bernard "BJ" Jackson III; his daughter, Leah 
Jackson; his brother, Daryl Jackson; his sister, Kim Jackson; and his 
mother, Ruby Jackson.

Funeral services for Lizzie L. Spencer Cooley, 79, of Shubuta, were 
conducted on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from Altair Baptist Church, with 
Pastor Arthur L. Bartee officiating.
Interment followed at Altair Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born on Sept. 8, 1946, she died on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Charles 
Turner of Waynesboro, Teressa and Mitch Hundley of Laurel and Michelle 
Cooley of Shubuta; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine Lofton, 
Mae J. and Joseph Griffin and Bobbie Lester; her brothers and 
sisters-in-law, Joe and Rose Spencer, Jr., Tyron Spencer and Robert and 
Sherry Spencer; her grandchildren, Mandrel Sargent, Christopher Lyons, 
Chareyana Turner; her great-grandchildren, Cyrianna Blakley, Cyrion 
Blakley, Makeely Sargent and Adam Sargent; and a host of nieces, nephews 
and other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death husband, Leonair L. Cooley; her parents, Joe 
W. Spencer and Lizzie Spencer; and her sister, Linda Spencer-Gilmore.

Funeral services for Roger Lee Lawrence, 69, of Hattiesburg, were 
conducted on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from Mt. Sinai Family Worship 
Center in Lucedale, with Rev. Stance Phillips officiating.
Interment followed at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Lucedale.
Born on Sept. 20, 1956, he was a former Truck Driver.
He died on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at his residence.
He is survived by his spouse, Reta Bolton Lawrence; his sons and 
daughter-in-law, Darryll and Shellonda Rodrick Lawrence and LaTroy 
Ludgood; his daughters, Kimberly Lawrence and Kesha Bolton of 
Hattiesburg; his brother, James Myles; his sisters and brother-in-law, 
Mary Fairley, Shirley Riley and Elizabeth and Charlie Scott; eight 
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, four brothers and a 
sister.

Funeral services for Lola V. Newsome, 85, of Millry, Ala., were 
conducted on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from Sandridge Church of God in 
Millry, with Rev. Shawn Hales officiating. 
Interment followed at Sandridge Cemetery in Millry.
Born in Laurel on Friday, June 14, 1940 to the late Robert and L.V. 
Touchstone, she was a member of Sandridge Church of God. She retired as 
a Seamstress for the Solomon Brothers Factory.
She died on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at her residence, surrounded by her 
loving family.
She is survived by her stepson and his spouse, Jerry and Elaine Newsome 
of Buckatunna; her step-granddaughter, Kim Newsome of Dahlonega, Ga.; 
her step-great-granddaughter, Alexis Newsome; two nephews, Roy E. Waite, 
Jr., of Thomasville, Ala., and Ronald and Debra Waite of Millry; three 
special great-nieces and two great-nephews who she helped raise as her 
own grandchildren, Kristen and Peanut Thompson, Erin Waite, Carly 
McCarty, Joey Waite and Chason Waite; and a host of other nieces, 
nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Newsome; her parents, 
Robert and L.V. Touchstone; her brother, O.D. Touchstone; and her 
sister, Irene Waite.

General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
She is survived by her son, Derrin Worsham; her bonus children and their 
respective spouse, Derrick Jordan and Queish and Sean Sawyer; her 
mother, Mable Terrell; her sisters and brother-in-law, Sandy and Anthony 
Walker, Tammie Terrell, Gwanlyn Terrell, Mable B. Terrell and Gwen Dean; 
her god sister and her spouse, Lasicille and Walter; her brothers and 
sister-in-law, Houston Terrell III, Glenn Terrell and Eric Dean; her god 
brothers and their respective spouse, Anthony and Debra Chambers and 
Lukelvin Chambers; her grandchildren, Demari Wosham and Autum; her 
godmother, Georgia Chambers; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and 
friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Chester Dean; her sister, Debra 
Pittman; her godfather, Roland Chambers; and her grandparents.
