on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home in 
Waynesboro, with Rev. Tommy Davis officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Born in Laurel on Wednesday, July 25, 1984 to Ivy Gene West, Jr., and 
Benita May West, he worked as an Assistant Driller for Helix Energy 
Solutions Group. BranDAN will always be remember for his big heart and 
his love for life.
He died on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at his residence.
He is survived by his mother, Benita West, of Waynesboro; his father, 
Ivy West of Waynesboro; his brother, Joshua West of Mobile, Ala.; and a 
host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene West; his grandparents, 
Bennie and Yvonne May and Ivy and Charlene West; and his uncle, Charlie 
West.

Funeral services for Virginia Elvin Pitts, 82, of Shubuta, will be at 11 
a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026 from DeSoto Baptist Church, with Rev. 
Dewayne Crane officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, 
May 29, 2026 from DeSoto Baptist Church.
Born in Quitman on May 26, 1943 to Ellis and Cordie Mae (Worsham) 
Pettis, she was a longtime member of DeSoto Baptist Church, where she 
served as Sunday School Secretary. She enjoyed singing in the church 
choir. She was a very friendly person who enjoyed meeting and spending 
time with her family and friends.
She died on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at her residence.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Gloria 
Pettis; three nieces and their respective spouses, Angela and David 
Williams Pettis, Louise and Chris Walker and Vivian and Barry Nicholson; 
two great-nieces and their respective spouses, Lauren Walker and 
Brittanie and Daniel Gardner; three great-nephews, James Nicholson, 
Daniel Nicholson and Timothy Nicholson; her great-great-niece, Ellie Jo 
Gardner; her great-great-nephew, Weston Gardner; and several extended 
family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ellis E. Pettis; her mother, 
Cordie Mae Pettis Smith; and her sister, Leona Smith.

Wynona D. Jordan, she worked as a Self-Employed Caregiver.
She died on Monday, May 25, 2026 at Forrest General Hospital in 
Hattiesburg.
She is survived by her husband, David Lynn Bishop of Buckatunna; two 
sons and daughters-in-law, Kendall and April McIlwain of Toomsuba and 
Wendall and Stacey McIlwain of State Line; her daughter and son-in-law, 
Tasha and Donald Ray Stafford of Gilbertown, Ala.; two brothers and 
sisters-in-law, Robert and Janice Jordan and Carl and Karen Jordan, all 
of State Line; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Gary Waller 
of Jackson, Ala., and Susan and Randy Scarbrough of Millry, Ala.; eight 
grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
