Funeral services for Annice Hendren Jordan, 65, of Waynesboro, were 
conducted on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral 
Home, with Rev. Mark Ferguson and Rev. Tom Dees officiating.
Interment followed at State Line Cemetery in State Line.
Born in Waynesboro on Thursday, Nov. 17, 1960 to the late Charles Edward 
Hendren, Jr., and Edna Earl Smith Hendren, she was a member of Zion Rest 
Baptist Church in Denham. She worked as a CPA with Millry 
Communications.
She died on Saturday, May 16, 2026 in State Line.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Donald Ray Jordan of 
Waynesboro; her daughter and son-in-law, Hannah Jordan and John 
Touchstone, of Millry, Ala.; her brother, Timothy Hendren of Buckatunna; 
her sister, Charlotte Gardner of State Line; and twin granddaughters, 
Sadie and Scarlett Touchstone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edward Hendren, Jr., 
and Edna Earl Smith Hendren; her daughter, Jessica Kristen Jordan; and 
her brother, Phillip Eugene Hendren.

Graveside services for Charles DeWayette Gardner, 56, of Buckatunna, 
were conducted on Monday, May 18, 2026 from Zion Rest Cemetery in 
Buckatunna, with Rev. Chip Phillips officiating.
Born in Mobile, Ala., on Thursday, Dec. 25, 1969 to Charles Ted Gardner 
and Janice Faye Gardner, he worked as a Driller in the Oil Field.
He died on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at his residence.
He is survived by his father and his spouse, Charles Ted and Joanna 
Gardner of Buckatunna; two daughters, Brittany Williams of Buckatunna 
and Ellyanna Grayce Burrus of Millry, Ala.; his brother, Joseph Ted 
Gardner; his sisters, Hailey Ina Gardner and Heather Gardner; and three 
grandchildren, Kavie Williams, David Ringer and Kinsley Ringer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Faye Wolff; his 
son-in-law, Dustin Williams; and his stepfather, Don Wolff.

LEE E. COOLEY

Funeral services for Lee E. Cooley, 82, of Dacula, Ga., were conducted 
on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Interment followed at Bethlehem Church Cemetery.
Born on June 14, 1943, he worked for the Chicago Transit Authority and 
received numerous certificates and awards in safe "Movement of 
Riders" utilizing the commuter railway system.
He died on Thursday, April 23, 2026 in Dacula.
He is survived by his wife, Liz Marie Cooley; his son and 
daughter-in-law, Corey and Kenyetta Cooley; his daughter, Dr. LaTanya 
Cooley Mickens; his siblings and their respective spouses, Virginia and 
Lovon Terrell of Shubuta, Deacon Floyd and Dr. Wendolyn Cooley of 
Chicago, Ill., Levell Cooley, Jr., of Shubuta, Deacon William and Adlene 
Cooley of Moss Point; and Alfred Cooley of Albany, N.Y.; his 
grandchildren, Zion Mickens, Korey Cooley, Chanel, Payton and Genesis 
Mickens, all of Georgia; his aunt, Gladys McDonald of Shubuta; and 
numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Levell Cooley, Sr., and Juanita 
McDougal Cooley; and his siblings, Larry, Vera and Ray.

HERBERT YOUNG
April 3, 1934-May 11, 2026
Funeral services for Herbert Young, 92, of Old Avera Road in State Line, 
were conducted on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from the Chapel of Freeman 
Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Harris officiating.
Interment followed at Fellowship Cemetery in Greene County.
Born in Wayne County on April 3, 1934, he loved the Lord and was a 
member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Herbert served in the U.S. Army in Korea, boxed in the Golden Gloves in 
1959, 1960 and 1962, winning three Mississippi State Title and a 
Mid-South Championship for welterweights. He attended Barber College, 
Jones County Junior College and Trenton Jewelry School.
In 1967, he completed his solo flight in Laurel. He truly enjoyed 
serving his customers and, in 1966, opened the Barber Shop in State Line 
and also did watch repairs. In 1980, he opened the Jewelry Store and ran 
Herbert's Jewelers until 2015.
He died on Monday, May 11, 2026 at his residence with his loving wife of 
33 years, Joan, by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Young; and many nieces and nephews that 
he loved dearly. His nephews and great-nephews served as pallbearers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Jones Young and Lewis E. 
Young; five brothers, Coleman Young, William A. Young, John Young, 
Howard Young and Hermon Young; and two sisters, Catherine Mooneyham and 
Mary Lynn Thornton.

Funeral services for David "Dab" Gardner, 76, of Fruitdale, Ala., 
were conducted on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from the Chapel of Freeman 
Funeral Home, with Rev. Tommy Gaillard and Clarence Miller officiating.
Interment followed at Grace Williams Cemetery in Fruitdale.
Born in Four Points, Ala., on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1949 to the late 
Earnest Avenue Gardner and Hattie Dees Gardner, he was a member of 
Fruitdale Methodist Church. He retired as an Insurance Agent with Alfa 
Insurance.
He died on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at his residence.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Janice Jones Gardner of 
Fruitdale; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jason Gardner of Livingston, 
Ala., and Alex and Allison Gardner of Crawford; his brother and 
sister-in-law, Earnest "Pete" and Marilyn Gardner of State Line; and 
his sister, Beatrice Grimes of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest Avenue Gardner and 
Hattie Dees Gardner; two brothers, James R. Gardner and Johnnie Joe 
Gardner; his brother-in-law, Billy Grimes; and two uncles, J.L. Gardner 
and Edgar "Butler" Gardner.

Funeral services for Martha E. Walley, 76, of Waynesboro, were conducted 
on Friday, May 15, 2026 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with 
Rev. Phillip Gandy and Rev. Randy McLeod officiating.
Interment followed at Mutual Rights Cemetery in Avera.
Born in Jackson on Saturday, March 4, 1950 to the late Aubrey H. and 
Evelyn Rone, she was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She worked as a 
Teacher in Public Education.
Martha was a devoted wife and mother who loved her friends and family 
mightily. She was a faithful Christian and vigorous prayer warrior for 
any and all in their time of need. She was dedicated to uplifting those 
she loved with phone calls and cards throughout the years, even as her 
own health began to decline.
She always had a smile and kind word for everyone she met and let the 
light and love of Jesus show through her every day. Martha was an avid 
outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and never missed a chance to 
cheer on Mississippi State University.
She died on Monday, May 11, 2026 at her residence, surrounded by her 
loving family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Charles W. Walley of 
Waynesboro; her son, Chris Walley of Waynesboro; her brother, James 
Homer Rone of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; her sister, Mary Gwyn Estes of 
Dallas, Ga.; a host of nieces and nephews, three great-nephews, special 
friends in Jeremy and Leslie Doby, Forrest Daws, Susan Hardee and Janis 
McMichael; and special caregivers in Courtney Carpenter, Jeanette 
Simpson and Jada Bradley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey H. and Evelyn Rone; and 
two infant sons.

Funeral services for Carrie Bell Carmack-Figgers, 94, of Waynesboro, 
were conducted on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from Magnolia Baptist Church, 
with Rev. Curtis Figgers officiating.
Interment followed at Magnolia Church Cemetery.
Born on Nov. 7, 1931, she will forever be remembered for her love of 
cooking and baking.
She died on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at her residence.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Bette Carmack and 
Tommie Jones, Deborah Figgers-Lorch and Brenda Figgers-Blakely; his sons 
and daughters-in-law, Calvin and Barbara Figgers, Jr., of Chicago, Ill.; 
her brothers and sisters-in-law, Curtis and Libby Figgers of Fort Myers, 
Fla., Marcus Figgers of Waynesboro; his stepsons and their spouses, 
Saniel and Cheryl Figgers of Las Vegas, Nev., Henry and Ann Figgers of 
Chicago and Clarence and Robin Cheatham of Grenada; Her sister, Shirley 
Wicks; her brother and sister-in-law, Benard and Lovie Robinson; her 
sisters-in-law, Annie Carmack, Irma Jonson and Joanna Neal; 30 
grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Figgers, Sr.; her 
parents; her daughter, Gladys Figgers-Ford; her sons, Terry Carmack and 
Jimmy Carmack; her sister, Velma Heard; and her brothers, Willie 
Sylvester Carmack, Jr. and James Henry Carmack, Sr.

Funeral services for Spencer Davis, 57, of Buckatunna, were conducted on 
Friday, May 8, 2026 from Philadelphia Baptist Church in Buckatunna, with 
Rev. Darron Chapman officiating.
Born on July 24, 1968, he was a retired Sergeant in the United States 
Army and a retired Lieutenant with the Waynesboro Police Department. For 
25 years, he coached city league and traveling basketball teams, along 
with serving as an assistant basketball coach at Wayne Academy. He was 
also a deacon at Philadelphia Baptist Church.
He died on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at Wayne General Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Tawanna Taylor-Davis; his son, Quinten 
Hogan-Davis; his daughter, Chassity S. Davis; his brothers and 
sister-in-law, Derrick D. Davis, Lewis P. Davis, Pernell and Rhonda 
Davis and Arthur Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews 
and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Evorn Davis.

Funeral services for Terry Wane Waldron, 75, of Shubuta, were conducted 
on Monday, May 4, 2026 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with 
Rev. Pat Patterson officiating.
Interment followed at Boyles Chapel Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Born in Ecru on Saturday, Jan. 6, 1951, to the late Thomas Levi Waldron 
and Stella Waldron, he was a member of Eucutta Independent Church. He 
retired as a Supervisor with Clarkco Services.
He died on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia W. and Jason 
Kingsmill Manning of Shubuta; his son and daughter-in-law, William T. 
and Leslie Saul Waldron of Clara; his brother, Phillip Waldron of 
Graceville, Fla.; his sister, Elizabeth Maccadian of Somerville, Tenn.; 
two grandchildren and their respective spouses, Audrey and Tommy Morris 
and Brett Manning, all of Shubuta; two great-grandchildren, Joseph 
Lapadat and John Lapadat; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Doylene E. 
Waldron; his parents, Thomas Levi Waldron and Stella Waldron; his 
brother, Park Waldron; and his sister, Joyce Brown.
