Funeral services for Tyricka Heidelberg, 39, of Indianapolis, Ind., will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from Sweet Pilgrim United Methodist Church in Shubuta, with Rev. Kevin Carter officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. from Sweet Pilgrim U.M. Church.

Following the funeral service, interment will take place at the church cemetery.

Born on Aug. 11, 1982, she was a College Student.

She died on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022 at I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

JIMMIE REA DEW BOYLES

Funeral services for Jimmie Rea Dew Boyles, 87, of Waynesboro, will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2022 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Hodge officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2022 from the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home.

Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Boyles Chapel Cemetery.

Born in a rail car on Nov. 20, 1934 in Wayne County to John and Ethilea Dew, she married Cecil Boyles on Feb. 20, 1954 and they were married for 65 years until his death in 2019.

As a young woman, she worked at S.H. Kress Department Store in downtown Laurel. She was a "Room Mother" at Beat Four Elementary School for several years.

She was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church in Jones County for many years, where she taught Bible School, Sunday School and served on many committees.

She and her husband were active members of the Magnolia State Bluegrass Association and they hosted the organization's annual festival each summer for years. She was a Homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and her farm.

She died on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Brookwood Villa.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Nita Boyles; two grandchildren and their respective spouses, Zachary and Sarah Boyles of Montgomery, Texas, and Megan and Adam Roberts of Waynesboro; two great-grandchildren, Connor Boyles and Emily Boyles of Montgomery, Texas; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Judy Dew of Waynesboro and Ray and Bonnie Dew of Laurel; and a host of nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cecil; her sisters, Johnnie Tucker and Faye Mills; her brothers, Ralph Dew and Thomas Dew; and a niece, Kathy Dew.

Born on June 28, 1936, he was a Retiree in the textile industry.

VONDA BREWER

Funeral services for Vonda Brewer, 69, of Richton, were conducted on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home, with Brother Justin Stinson officiating.

Interment followed at Union Cemetery in Piave.

She worked most of her career in the healthcare field as a Nurses' Aide at Wayne General Hospital and as a Home Health Aide. She was a loving mother and grandmother, as well as a faithful member of Piave Church of God of Prophecy.

She died on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Forrest General Hospital.

She is survived by her three children and their respective spouses, Dwayne Brewer of Purvis, James "Bud" Brewer of Sand hill and Nichole and Kevin McLain of Richton; her grandchildren, Walker Reese and Emma Kate; her siblings, Bernadine McLain, Barbara Faye Walley, Nancy Loftin and Ann Mozingo, all of Sand Hill, Ellen Brewer of Clara, Billy Stinston and Jerry Stinson, both of Sand Hill, and James Stinson of Columbia; and a special friend, Johnny.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Brewer; her parents, Preston and Gracie Stinson; and her brothers, Bobby Stinson and Marvin "Chubby" Stinson.

Serving as pallbearers were Bud Brewer, Walker Brewer, Jerry Stinson, Terry McLain, Michael McLain and Philip Brewer.

Born on March 18, 1932, she was a Retiree from the textile industry.

She died on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Shelia McGill of Shubuta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and John Whitfield of Waynesboro and Gale and Larry Hundley of Shubuta; two brother and sisters-in-law, Allen and Jackie Woodard, Jr., of Grand Island, N.Y., and Thomas and Mary Woodard of Buffalo, N.Y.; five stepbrothers and their spouses, Lee Everett and Liz Cooley of Dacula, Ga., Floyd and Wandalyn Cooley of Chicago, Ill., William Cooley of Moss Point, and Levell Cooley, Jr., and Alfred Cooley, both of Albany, N.Y.; an adopted brother, James A. McCann; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Irma Lawrence of New York, N.Y., and Verline and Carol McLaughlin of Buffalo; a half sister and her spouse, Carolyn and Curtis Hinton of Quitman; a stepsister and her spouse, Virginia and Lavon Terrell of Shubuta; a host of grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and two brothers.

Born on Feb. 22, 1958, he was a Veteran of the United States Army.

He died on Friday, Feb. 25, 2022 at The Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Meridian.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Reggie and Shavia Turner and Charles and Felicia Turner; a daughter and son-in-law, Whitney and Moses Palmer; his siblings, John, Brenda, Rose, Jack, Coleman, Roddeerick, Vanessa, Don, Chris, Bennie, Denise, Tyrone Austin, Woody Powe, Brenda Jordan, Quindett Lockhart, Frankl Pacley, Renee Jordan and Derrick Ramey; and his grandchildren, Mason Turner, Kaleb Turner, KJ Carter, Kingston Turner, Kelaji Turner, Keundria Palmer, Moses Palmer, Jr., and Noah Palmer.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Cecil Jordan; and two brothers, Bobbie Jordan and Lavonne Jordan.

GEORGE HEWITT GENT

Nov. 18, 1927-Feb. 15, 2022

Graveside services for George Hewitt Gent, 94, of Hattiesburg, were conducted on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 from Highland Cemetery.

He died on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022.

Born on Nov. 18, 1927 in Pike County, he was the son of Edward Alfred and Jessie Willena Hewitt Gent. The family lived in Summit and he was baptized at First Baptist Church of Summit, where he attended.

He graduated high school from Southwest Mississippi Junior College and attended Southwest for two years of college, where he also lettered in football. After graduation, he worked for an oil company doing seismograph work all over the states of Mississippi and Louisiana.

He was drafted in 1950 during the Korean War. He spent two years serving in the Army. He was sent to Camp Pickett, Va., where he completed basic training for the Army in the 43rd Division. He later was shipped to Munich, Germany where he spent 10 months serving in the Combat Engineering Battalion. He was honorably discharged in February of 1952.

George attended pharmacy school at the University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss, he was a member of the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. He was also a member of the Mississippi Pharmaceutical Association. He graduated from Ole Miss in 1956.

He worked as a pharmacist for a year at Ball Drug Store in Ellisville. He met his future wife --- Jannelle Jackson from Waynesboro --- during that year. In 1957, he moved to Hattiesburg where he worked at Walnut Street Pharmacy. He married Jannelle Jackson in 1958 and were blessed with two daughters, Janet Lynn and Jacqueline Ann. Jannelle was the love of his life. Their marriage of 64 years was made in Heaven. Together, God was always first and everything else just fell in place. HIs life and beliefs were a wonderful example for his children and grandchildren.

After working 12 years at Walnut Street Pharmacy, he was hired by Eckerd Drugs, where he worked for 24 years. He served for a total of 37 years before retiring at the age of 66. He loved serving the people and really wanted to help people. He loved meeting and serving the people he met during his career as a pharmacist.

George was an avid hunter of deer, squirrel, turkey and quail. He also loved fishing. He definitely was an outdoors person. He taught his girls to fish and hunt. He loved all five of his grandchildren and spent time teaching them about nature. He loved spending time hunting and fishing with them. He wanted them to see, enjoy and appreciation God's Creation of HIs wonderful world.

George was outstanding in everything he did and had knowledge of many things. He loved gardening. For many years, he grew tomatoes, okra and Louisiana purple string beans. For several years he would can 60 pints of beans. George also was an excellent cook and taught Jannelle how to cook. Before he married Jannelle, he told her she would have to master three things: how to cook chicken and dumplings, chicken and dressing and homemade rolls. Believe it or not, she mastered all three.

George was a master reader. He read a book a day since his retirement. His love of reading was gained from his father, who also read several books a week. He loved westerns and learning about history. George documented all the books he read in a binder so he would not re-read the same books.

George was a member of Elks Lake and the Hattiesburg Optimist Club. He attended Main Street Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Sunday School Hut Class. He served as a Deacon and was on various committee during the years. George loved working at Main Street, helping to finish the upstairs after the church moved to the new location. These men saved the church a great deal of money and were proud of their accomplishments. George loved Main Street Baptist Church.

George had one brother, Alfred Gent, a pharmacist who lived in McComb before his death several years ago. He had three nephews, all engineers; and a nice who is a graphic artist.

George had one sister, Shirley Ann Gent Woodward, who now residents in Brunswick, Ga. Shirley retired as a school counselor. George truly loved his little sister.

He is survived by his wife, Jannelle Jacqueline Jackson Gent; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet Lynn Gent and Ted Parker and Jacqueline Gent and Melton Drennan; five grandchildren and their respective spouses, Conner Jackson and Bailee Drennan, Lake Hewitt and Andy Beets, Landon Elizabeth and William Landrum, Gent Taylor and Meredith Lucas Parker; and Carl Davis Parker; five great-grandchildren, John Hewitt Beets, Edward Case Beets; Wyatt Drennan, Mary Louise Landrum and Gray Taylor Parker; and his sister, Shirley Ann Gent Woodward.
