A Memorial Celebration of Life for Ann Mangum Maynor, 86, of Meridian,
will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from First Presbyterian
Church in Meridian. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Born on Nov. 28, 1939 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late
Kathryn and W.D. Mangum.

She graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1957 and went on to attend
Belhaven College, where she earned her Elementary Education Degree in
1961. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Tom C.
Maynor.

A gifted and devoted educator, she began her teaching career in the
Jackson Public School System at Watkins Elementary. In 1968, she and Tom
moved to Meridian, where she continued her passion for teaching in the
Meridian Public School System until her retirement. She was especially
cherished for her work in the Talented & Gifted (TAG) program, where she
inspired and nurtured countless students.

Ann was a dedicated advocate for education and served for many years as
President of the Meridian Public Schools PTA. During a pivotal time of
school desegregation, she was a steadfast and compassionate supporter
for students, families and educators. Even after retiring from the
classroom, she remained committed to education, working part-time at the
Meridian Public Schools Central Office and later teaching at the Trinity
Dyselxia Center, where her love for children continued to shine.

Her spirit of service extended deeply into the community. She was an
original member of the Hope Village Guild and played a vital role in
founding the Hope Village Thrift Store, which she managed for five
years. She also volunteered for a decade at Anderson's Hospital, where
she and her husband helped establish the Tom C. Maynor Rehabilitation
Center and led a stroke support group.

A faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Meridian, she was
actively involved in many aspects of church life. She taught in the
Children's Ministry, sang in the choir and served as President of Women
in Ministry. She was also a member of the Fortnightly Club, Junior
Auxiliary and the JA Chorus.

She died on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Hoffman; her children and their
respective spouses, David T. Maynor, Carroll Ann Maynor, John W. and
Cecilie Maynor, Alice and Greg Derrick and Labena Warren; and her
cherished grandchildren and their respective spouses, Will Maynor,
Rebecca and McRae Thomas, Ami and Cody Powell, Hannah Derrick, Natalie
and Carsson DeYoung, Thomas Derrick, Ana Maynor, Mayra Maynor, Elias
Maynor and Kaja Maynor.
