Funeral services for Billie Jean Jordan-Powe, 73, of Waynesboro, will be 
at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025 from Pineville Missionary Baptist 
Church, with Pastor Samuel C. Newton officiating. Visitation will be 
from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025 from the Chapel of Turner 
Funeral Home, and again from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, 2025 from 
Pineville M.B. Church.
Following the funeral service, interment will follow at the church 
cemetery.
Born on Aug. 30, 1962, she was a retired School Teacher with the Wayne 
County School District.
She died on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025 at University Medical Center in 
Jackson.

Funeral services for Michael G. "Sunbeam" Holley, 68, of Quitman and 
formerly of Shubuta, will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025 from 
the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home, with Rev. Perry Holder officiating. 
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2025 from the 
Chapel of Turner Funeral Home.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at New Pilgrim 
Cemetery in Hiwannee.
Born on June 10, 1957, he was a Laborer.
He died on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2025 at Baptist Anderson Regional Medical 
Center in Meridian.
He is survived by his sisters, Vera Lee Powe, Mary Howze and Clara 
Holley.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.

Graveside services for James C. "Jim" Britton, Jr., 66, of Millry, 
Ala., were conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025 from Chapel Hill 
Cemetery, with Rev. Scott Giles officiating.
Born in Opelika, Ala., on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1959 to the late James 
Conrad Britton, Sr., and Betty Elizabeth Fuzzell Britton, he was a 
member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1978 to 1982. He worked 
as Owner and Operator of Britton Farms.
He died on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025 at his residence.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Joe David and Ann 
Britton of Millry; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Connie and Billy 
Gant of Millry, Ala., and Kathy Britton of Mobile, Ala.; his nieces and 
nephews and their respective spouses, Heather Gant, Hillary and Jason 
Cooley, Haley and Joseph Hill and JoAnna and Justin Rigney; his 
great-nieces and great-nephews, Tristan Cooley, Ethan Cooley, Jaiden 
Cooley, Emery Hill, Aubree Hill, Lilly Hill, Molly Hill and Britton 
Rigney; his uncle, Buddy Fuzzell of Trussville, Ala.; and his aunt, 
Mavis Britton McCain of Waynesboro.
Pallbearers were Mike Giles, Steve Burton, Milton Britton, Tristan 
Cooley, Ethan Cooley, Jason Cooley, Joseph Hill and Justin Rigney. 
Honorary pallbearers were Roy "Poncho" McIlwain, Teddy Joe Britton, 
Morgan Taylor and Randy McIlwain.

GROVER SCOTT OVERSTREET

Funeral services for Grover Scott Overstreet, 62, of Mobile, Ala., were 
conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral 
Home, with Rev. Ken Beasley and Sister Martha Sikes officiating.
Interment followed at Zion Rest Cemetery in Buckatunna.
Born in Baytown, Texas, on Tuesday, March 19, 1963 to the late Cecil 
Arnold and Nola Grace Overstreet, he was the Owner and Operator at 
Sentry Insulation.
He was known for his playful spirit and his steadfast nature. Throughout 
his life, he often found himself stepping in during moments when others 
needed support, and he carried a desire to be helpful, always wanting to 
lend a hand to those in need.
He died on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025 at University of South Alabama 
Medical Center in Mobile, Ala.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brandy and Donavin 
Sweebe of Saraland, Ala., and Brittany and Brent Lee of Laurel; his 
stepson and his spouse, Brian and Bethany Lee of Fairhope, Ala.; his 
brother and sister-in-law, Cecil Craig and Patrick Lyn Overstreet of 
Arlington, Mass.; 10 grandchildren, Robbie, Ava, Nate, Liam, Brodie, 
Emily Grace, Grayson, Addisyn, Lexi Kate and Barrett; and special and 
devoted friends in Butch and Gail McRae, along with many others.
He was precededed in death by his parents, Cecil Arnold and Nola Grace 
Overstreet; and his grandson, Lawson Lee.

of Scott.

Born on Nov. 5, 1954, she was a former employee at the blanket factory.
She died on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025 at South Central Regional Medical 
Center in Laurel.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony Charles and 
Amanda Dozier of Waynesboro and Kendrick and Brittany Dozier of Purvis; 
her daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Dozier of Waynesboro and Aqualia 
and Joey Lacey of Buckatunna; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe Lee 
and Katina Howell of Waynesboro, Tony and Patricia West of Mobile, Ala., 
John Bobby West of Miami, Fla., Alfred and Ternecia West of Waynesboro, 
Edwin Smith of Savannah, Ga., and Fred Howell of Miami; her sisters and 
brothers-in-law, Rozetta Smith of North Carolina, Ella and Edde Hodge, 
Bartha Jean Smith, Emma Smith, Doretha Smith, Laverne and Staheli 
Everett of Waynesboro, Letha and Mario Williams of Mobile, Sharon Howell 
of Waynesboro, Leatha and Mitchell Watson of Mobile and Elizabeth Howell 
of Waynesboro; 10 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and her 
mother, Maggie B. Smith.
She was preceded in death by her father, her stepmother, three sisters 
and three brothers.

Funeral services for Julian Terry Smith, 67, were conducted on 
Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025 from the Chapel of McDonald and Sons Funeral 
Home, with Rev. Alford James officiating.
Interment followed at New Jordan Cemetery in Silas, Ala.
Born on Feb. 17, 1958, he died on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025 at Wayne 
General Hospital.
He is survived by his daughter, April Brewer; seven grandchildren, 
Yadira, Yobani, Isaiah, Joseph, Ka-Lijah, Sebastian and Myla; his aunts, 
Maggiee Manning and Louise Taylor; his mother, Carrie Mae Smith; and a 
host of cousins, relatives and friends.
