Funeral services for Sam C. Kennedy, Jr., 93, of Waynesboro, were 
conducted on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025 from Waynesboro First Methodist 
Church, with Dr. Steve Smith officiating.
Interment followed at Waynesboro Cemetery.
Born in Union on Sunday, Aug. 21, 1932 to the late Samuel Curtis, Sr., 
and Rebecca Smith Kennedy, after his birth his family moved to State 
Line, where he lived for many years before moving to Waynesboro.
He was a member of Waynesboro First Methodist Church. He enjoyed working 
outdoors in the timber and oil industry. Sam will always be remember by 
family and friends for his many stories and knowledge of Wayne County.
He served as a Director of First State Bank, was a member of the Wayne 
General Hospital Board, Wayne County Economic Development District and 
the Waynesboro-Wayne County Public Library Board.
He died on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025 at his residence.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, S.C. "Kurt" and Elisa 
Kennedy III of Mobile, Ala.; his daughter and son-in-law, Kay Kennedy 
and Jerry Kelly of Mobile; his companion, Claire "Sissie" Gray of 
Waynesboro; two grandsons and their spouses, Sean Patrick and Sarah 
Kelly of Mobile and Michael Scott and Danielle Kelly of Birmingham, 
Ala.; two granddaughters and their spouses, Corinne Rebecca Kennedy of 
Starkville and Christine Kennedy and Rayn Weakley of Pensacola, Fla.; 
his great-grandson, Liam Patrick Kelley of Mobile; and his 
great-granddaughter, Harper Kennedy Weakley of Pensacola.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettye Jane Kennedy; and his 
parents.

Funeral services for Peggy F. Trigg, 89, of Waynesboro, were conducted 
on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with 
Rev. Jesse Long III, Rev. Philip McRae and Rev. Robert McRae 
officiating.
Interment followed at White House Cemetery.
Born on Friday, Dec. 10, 1935 to the late Wiley and Nettie McRae 
Fitzgerald, she was a member of Clara United Methodist Church. She 
retired as a Program Technician for the Department of Agriculture after 
42 years of service.
She died on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025 at Wayne General Hospital.
She is survived by four children and their respective spouses, Candis 
Sue Trigg of Clara, Stan Trigg of Waynesboro, Lisa Trigg of Clara and 
Christi Trigg and Phillip Crossley of Venon, Ala.; two additional people 
she loved as children, Keith Winters of Waynesboro and Kimberly 
Hollinghead of Lauderdale; and her brother, Robert Mac Fitzgerald of 
Monroe, La.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Norman 
Trigg, Jr.; and her parents, Wiley and Nettie McRae Fitzgerald.
Pallbearers were Scott Griffith, Joe McFadden, Alton Mills, Anthony 
McRae, Tommy McRae and Noel McRae. Honorary pallbearers were Jack McRae 
and Sam McRae.
The family would like to thank the staff of Southern Living and the 
doctors and nurses of Wayne General Hospital. Special thanks to sitters

Funeral services for Mitchell Crager, 69, of Chatom, Ala., were 
conducted on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral 
Home, with Rev. Mitchell Smith, Rev. Jackie Spell and Rev. Michael 
Beckwith officiating.
Interment followed at New Haven Cemetery in Millry, Ala.
Born in State Line on Thursday, Aug. 9, 1956 to the late D.J. and Dean 
Crager, he was a member of Chicora Baptist Church. He retired as an 
Insulator for BE&K.
Mitchell will always be remembered for his gentle spirit and smile that 
would light up the room, and his unending love for his wife, his girls 
and grandchildren. He enjoyed life to the fullest, spending time with 
his precious grandchildren, going on trips and time at the river with 
friends and family, He also enjoyed turkey hunting, fishing and tending 
to the farm.
He was a simple, hard-working man who loved with his whole heart. If you 
stayed around him for long, you were sure to hear a story about the 
grands at some point. His love for the Lord was no secret either. In 
everything he did, he put his faith first and his family second. His 
memory will always be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
He died on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025 at his residence.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 yeas, Michelle Crager of Chatom; 
two daughters, Jessica Deese and Ashton Bailey, both of Waynesboro; 
three sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane and Jim Williams of Fruitdale, 
Ala., Betty and John Vann and Karen and Billy Henderson, all of Chatom; 
four grandchildren, Cole Deese, Cali deese, Rynleigh Jordan and Carson 
Bailey; two sisters-in-law, Debbie Crager of Chatom and Delaine 
Dickerson of Waynesboro; three children he raised as his own, Mark 
Corey, Joe Corey and Michelle Deese; and a host of nieces, nephews, 
cousins and family from Peavey's Landing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, D.J. and Dean Crager; two 
brothers, Mike Crager and Jesse L. Crager; and his sister-in-law, Chick 
Crager.
Pallbearers were Jason Crager, Elliot Crager, Quint Crager, Cole Deese, 
Daniel Dickerson and Joshua Dickerson. Honorary pallbearers were Coby 
Crager, Kyle Williams, Dane Vann, Donald Wayne Crager, Ronnie Crager and 
all of his Peavey's Landing family.

Interment followed at the Mississippi Veterans Cemetery in Newton.
Born on Jan. 6, 1946, he was retired as a Sergeant Major in the U.S. 
Army and served as a JROTC Instructor at Wayne County High School for 
many years. He was a Deacon and President of the Deacon Board at St. 
Luke Missionary Baptist Church, where he also was a member of the Male 
Chorus, served as a Youth Ministry Mentor and was President of the 
Kitchen Committee.
He died on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025 at PAM Health Specialty Hospital in 
Jacksonville, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Earline Carter; his sons and 
daughters-in-law, Jimmie Carter, Jr., of Jacksonville, Macolm and Adrian 
Carter of Columbia, S.C., Jaderrius Bishop of Waynesboro and Corey and 
Eva Carter of Indianapolis, Ind.; his daughters and sons-in-law, Felisa 
and Jessie Bush of Anniston, Ala., Anita and Jerrell Rankins of
