Reservoir Road Bridge Reopens

October 08, 2025

After just over two weeks, the bridge on Reservoir Road was reopened a little after 1 p.m. Wednesday.

County officials closed the bridge due to wooden pilings deteriorating, causing a safety issue for residents. Originally, the Board of Supervisors issued weight limits for the bridge but then closed it after learning of the full extent of the repairs needed.

Declaring the project an emergency allowed the county to not have to bid the project out. That also allowed construction crews to immediately begin work on replacing the wooden pilings with steel ones that are projected to last for decades.

During Monday's meeting of the Board of Supervisors, the project was discussed and County Engineer John Lewis said it would be just a matter of days before the project was completed — adding that it would definitely be opened by the end of the week.

On Wednesday, the bridge was reopened and residents no longer will have to detour around the construction.
