Newspaper Plans to Broadcast State Softball Championship Series

October 07, 2025

The best-of-three state softball championship series is planned to be broadcast
live and free of charge.
Wayne Academy faced Bowling Green (La.) Wednesday at home in Game 1 of
the series to decide the Class 3A Division II State Champion. That game
was broadcast live at www.thewaynecountynews.com.
Game 2 is Thursday starting at 6:30 p.m. in Bogalusa, La. The newspaper
will be broadcasting that game free of charge as well.
"We are proud of the Lady Jaguars for their accomplishments this year
and we are happy and proud to broadcast the game through live streaming
on our website and other platforms," said Publisher Paul Keane.
Broadcasts can be accessed at www.thewaynecountynews.com then by
clicking on the "WCN-TV" link on the home page. The link features a
video camera icon.
Once you have clicked on that, you will be asked to click on a secondary
link. Click there and the broadcast will begin when it goes live.
The broadcast will also be available on the newspaper's Facebook page,
it is recommended that you go through the main website.
"Sometimes, there are issues with Facebook regarding copyright music
being played that is beyond our control," Keane said. "That music is
played by the public address system at the fields and sometimes Facebook
can bumped your broadcast off due to copyright issues.
"We understand fully why Facebook does that, but we want to warn viewers
of that issue along with if delays with Wi-Fi become too long Facebook
will drop the broadcast."
In addition to the newspaper's website, the broadcast can be accessed on
Amazon Fire, Roku TV, AppleTV, Android TV and will automatically be
played on the newspaper's indoor digital billboards at 15 locations
around the county, including Pizza Inn, Buddy's Food and Fuel, Boondock
Eddie's and The Huff Sports Bar Grill and any other businesses with the
billboards who are open at the time of the broadcast.
Keane said to be sure and notice the sponsors of the broadcasts.
"These are the folks that keep these broadcasts from becoming
pay-per-view," he said. "Be sure to take note of all of our advertisers
on our broadcasts because they all help cover the costs, which can
sometimes be plentiful.
"Stop by the businesses you see as sponsors and tell them how much you
appreciate them doing this. More importantly, show your gratitude by
doing some business with these companies."
