Funeral services for Dewey Ray Loper, 70, of Waynesboro, will be at 10
a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 205 from Crossroads Baptist Church in
Strengthford, with Brother Ronnie Jones officiating the service and
Brother Kris Parker assisting at the graveside. Visitation will from 5-9
p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025 from the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home.
In addition, a brief viewing will take place at the church starting at 9
a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025.

Born in Waynesboro on Monday, Dec. 13, 1954, he grew up in the Beat Four
community. He made his living as a Truck Driver, Heavy Machine Operator
and Mechanic — proudly carrying on the hardworking legacy of the Loper
family name.

He died on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. at Wayne General
Hospital.

He loved his daily visits to Quickway to grab a bite to eat and give the
ladies there a hard time. He will be remembered for his laughter and
sense of humor, his deep love for his family and the friendships he
cherished throughout his life.

He is survived by his children and their respective spouses, Cain and
Dora Loper, Boone and Amy Loper and Kasi Pugh; his stepdaughter and her
spouse, Holly and Timathy Sherman; his grandchildren and their
respective spouses, Dylan and Svanah Pugh, Damon and Faith Holcomb
Loper, Payge and Austin Davis, Jake and Jaden Loper, Wyatt Pugh,
Carleigh Claire Loper, Cooper Sherman, Trace Loper, Kenzi Loper, Cali
Loper and Kolter Loper; 11 great-grandchildren; his siblings and their
respective spouses, Gloria Jean and Leonard Langley, Hance C. "Buddy"
Loper, Jr., Dian McIlwain and Jamie and Dorris "Tug" Loper; a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and his lifelong friend and his
spouse, Robin "Boober" and Sharon Busby.
