Weight limits for bridge on Reservoir Road limited to 3 tons

September 08, 2025

The Wayne County Board of Supervisors has announced traffic restrictions
are in place on the Reservoir Road causeway bridge near Maynor Creek
Water Park west of Waynesboro as of Monday, Sept. 8.
The bridge is immediately limited to vehicles that are three tons or
less, meaning nothing more than passenger cars and light-duty pick-up
trucks will be permitted to cross the structure. All other vehicles,
including emergency response units, delivery trucks and school buses,
are being required to use alternate routes.
"Hopefully, within the next two weeks, repairs can start and, at that
point, the bridge will be completely closed to all through traffic,"
Wayne County District 4 Supervisor Keith Clay said. "The repair
timetable will depend upon good weather as well as the contractor being
mobilized and having the materials in place to do the necessary work."
Clay said once repairs are started, it could take up to two more weeks
for the entire scope of work to be completed — again, dependent upon
weather and available materials.
Established detour routes will include:
• From U.S. Highway 84 near the Baptist Children's Village west of
Waynesboro, use North Maynor Creek Drive to access Reservoir Road west
of Maynor Creek Water Park.
• From Mississippi Highway 63 north of Clara School, use Maynor Creek
Drive Road to access Reservoir Road west of Maynor Creek Water Park.
Reservoir Road between Mississippi Highway 184 and the causeway will be
limited to local traffic only once the bridge work starts. Access to
Maynor Creek Water Park will only be available through the listed detour
routes.
