A pond off Holly Bush Church Road began to be drained Tuesday night as
the search for a teenager missing since January continues.
Wayne County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Geoffery Clark confirmed
Wednesday night that the pond was bend drained in the hopes of locating
John Quavontae Gandy, 19, who has been missing since Jan. 8.
Clark said the department has been working on a plan for about a month
and were finally able to get sufficient pumping equipment. He added that
the pond should be low enough to investigate the area thoroughly by some
time Thursday.
The public is being kept away and deputies are on site around the clock
as the pond is located on private property and is a possible crime
scene.
