Funeral services for Marie Burgess, 87, of Waynesboro, will be at 11
a.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home,
with Rev. Billy Trull and Rev. Larry Reynolds officiating. Visitation
will be from 9-11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025 from the Parlor of
Freeman Funeral Home.

Born in Millry, Ala., on Monday, Nov. 8, 1937 to the late Frank Lee
Tate, Sr., and Zoey Crane Tate, she was a member of Buckatunna Free Will
Baptist Church. She worked as a Supervisor at Wells Lamont and later
retired from NECO.

She died on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025 at her residence.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward Allen and
Patricia Burgess of Collins and Terry Joe and Jessie L. Burgess of
Buckatunna; her daughter and son-in-law, Janie Brugess and Richard
"Dickie" Fick of State Line; her brother and sister-in-law, Winston and
Jane Tate of JAckson, Ala.; her sister and brother-in-law, Glendine and
Odell Miller of Oxford; seven grandchildren and their respective
spouses, Amanda and Neal Street, Travis and Chelcie Burgess, Taylor and
Jasmine Brugess, Leslie and Mark Holder, Kelly and Phillip Dykes, T.J.
and Andy Burgess and Justin L. and Angie Burgess; 14 great-grandchildren
and their respective spouses, Caleb and Abby, Brent, Jack, Sophie,
Halle, Reaghan, Caroline, Carson, Jett, Ellie, Emmy, Andrew, John and
James; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Tate, Jr., and Roy Tate; and two sisters, Hazel Sells and Bertha Beech.
