EDWARD ELIE HOLYFIELD
April 8, 1937-July 10, 2025
Graveside services for Edward Elie Holyfield, 88, of Waynesboro, were 
conducted on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from Winchester Cemetery in 
Waynesboro, with Rev. Tom Walker officiating.
Born in Wayne County on Thursday, April 8, 1937 to the late Elie and 
Mamie Holyfield, he was a member of First Winchester Global Church and 
was a Sexton of the Cemetery, which he took great pride in.
He served in the United States Air Force from April 1955 to February 
1959. He worked for many years at Ciba-Geigy and Hanson Scales.
Although he had small jobs after retirement, his passion was growing 
cane and making syrup, tending to cows, bailing hay and growing 
vegetables. He loved sharing his harvest with family and friends.
He died on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at his residence.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Yvonne 
Holyfield of Waynesboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terry and Ellis 
McIlwain and Tonya and Windell Bedwell, all of Waynesboro; four 
grandchildren and their respective spouses, Hope and John Walker, Cassie 
and Daniel Pickering, Holly and Dillon Slay and Chase and Chelsea 
Bedwell; and nine great-grandchildren with one on the way, Wilt, Wyatt, 
Willa, Gabe, Porter Ellis, Sawyer, Huck, Finn, Landree and Lorali, who 
is due in August.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elie and Mamie Holyfield; his 
brother, Elbert Holyfield; and two sisters, Janell McAdams and Christine 
Cook.

MILDRED RACHEL GORDON COOPER
Sept. 18, 1936-July 10, 2025
Funeral services for Mildred Rachel Gordon Cooper, 88, of Buckatunna, 
were conducted on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from Bucaktunna First Baptist 
Church, with Dr. Terry Williams officiating.
Interment followed at Buckatunna Baptist Cemetery in Buckatunna.
Born in Buckatunna on Friday, Sept. 18, 1936 to the late Jesse Gordon 
and Martha Britton Gordon, she was a faithful member of Buckatunna First 
Baptist Church. She retired as a Clerk at Bonner Drugs.
She died on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Wayne General Hospital.
She is survived by her daughter, Mildred Jean Cooper Smith of 
Buckatunna; two grandsons and their spouses, Justin Cooper and Jessica 
Smith of Waynesboro and Jared Austin and Erica Smith of Buckatunna; four 
great-grandchildren, Austin Grant Smith, Remington Ty Smith, Dallas Levi 
Smith and Montana Austyn Smith; her sister-in-law, Etta Lee Gordon of 
Waynesboro; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Austin Cooper; her 
parents, Jesse and Martha Britton Gordon; a son-in-in law, Delton Smith; 
three brothers, J.C. Gordon, Jr., Douise Gordon and Britton Gordon; and 
three sisters, Marian Mashburn, Dorothy Barkley and Louise Gordon.

RUTH JORDAN CLARK
Sept. 4, 1943-July 7, 2025
Funeral services for Ruth Jordan Clark, 81, of Waynesboro, were 
conducted on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from the Chapel of Wright's 
Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Cooper officiating.
Interment followed at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Born on Sept. 4, 1943 to George and Faith (Van Ness) Campbell in 
Quitman, she was a member of Bethany Pentecostal Holiness Church of 
Quitman and Clara Church of God in Clara.
She died on Monday, July 7, 2025 at her residence.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Amanda 
Jordan and Craig Clark; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Rita 
Walters, Patricia and Ron Adams and Vicki and John Jordan; eight 
grandchildren and their respective spouses, Laura and Gavin Lee, Andrew 
Jordan, Jessica Middleton, Haley and Kegan Kelley, Kody Walter, Allison 
and Blake Rhymer, Derek and Jennifer Ivy and Ariel and Trenton Penner 
Adams; 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended 
family members.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Washington Campbell; her 
mother, Faith Louise Campbell; her first husband, Ottis Jordan; her 
second husband, Edd Clark; three brothers, David Campbell, John Campbell 
and Alton Campbell; and a sister, Susie Simmons.
Pallbearers were Derek Ivy, Kody Walters, Bubba Stokley, Lane Stokley, 
Joel Shelby and Martin West. Honorary pallbearer was Leroy Cochran.

CONNIE CECILE "NANA" WALLEY
Feb. 22, 1944-July 7, 2025
Funeral services for Connie Cecile "NaNa" Walley, 81, of Waynesboro, 
were conducted on Thursday, July 10, 2025 from Clara First Church of God 
in Clara, with Rev. Chris Cooper officiating. 
Interment followed at White House Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Born in Waynesboro on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 1944 to the late Willie and Ed 
Jones, she was a member of Clara First Church of God. She worked at The 
Lolly Pop Shop and operated a child daycare center in her home for 19 
years.
She died on Monday, July 7, 2025 at her residence.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Susan 
Walley of Auburn, Ala.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Wanda Cone of 
Richton and Rhonda and Jeffery McCarty of Waynesboro; two brothers and a 
sister-in-law, Grant Jones of Sallis and Billy Joe and Barbara Jones of 
Buckatunna; her sister, Etta Lee Gordon of Waynesboro; six grandchildren 
and their respective spouses, Greg and Lacy Cone, Chadd and Tasha 
McCarty, Todd Walley, Heather and Cyle Brewer, Tonia and Matt McLaughlin 
and Tiffany and Zach Mosley; 14 great-grandchildren, Gracie Brewer, 
Ryder McCarty, Ramsie McCarty, Tate McCarty, Laynee Mosley, Tucker Cone, 
Braden Brewer, Daycie Mosley, Trent Cone, Jaxen Brewer, Chadley McCarty, 
Molly Mosley, Easton McLaughlin and Avie McLaughlin; and a host of 
family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Walley; her father, Ed 
Jones; her mother, Willie Jones; a daughter, Pam Walley; a 
great-grandson, Austin Brewer; two brothers, Jimmie Jones and Frankie 
Jones; and three sisters, Christine Peterson, Bobbie Standard and 
Patricia Langley.

Funeral services for William E. "Bill" Walker, 83, of Waynesboro, 
were conducted on Sunday, July 6, 2025 from the Chapel at Freeman 
Funeral Home, with Rev. DeJuan Walley and Dr. Steve Smith officiating.
Interment followed at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Born in Waynesboro on Monday, Sept. 1, 1941 to the late Hilton Walker, 
Sr., and Silas Ida Walker Bailey, he served in the United States Army 
National Guard. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro.
He retired as Co-Owner of Walker Motors, Owner of Walker Insurance and 
Co-Owner of Magnolia Pallet.
He died on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at his residence.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Cecelia Walker of 
Waynesboro; his daughter, Deena Denise Lamke of Hattiesburg; his son, 
James David and Angela Walker of Collinsville; his brother, Hilton 
Walker, Jr., of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Jonathan Chase Walker of 
Chicago, Ill., and Lauren Leigh Lamke of Hattiesburg; his brother-in-law 
and sister-in-law, Mike and Elaine Ellis of Waynesboro; six nieces and 
their respective spouses, Tresa Walker, Melissa and Tony Bowen, Katie 
Ellis, Chris and Rachel Evens, Michael Ellis and Brayden Ellis; his 
great-nephews, Cole Evans and Peyton Walker; and his great-niece, Betsy 
Bowen Hudson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Ida Walker Bailey and 
Hilton Walker, Sr.; his stepfather, Jim Bailey; and a nephew, Ronnie 
Walker.
