Funeral services for Betty Ruth Caver, 70, of Quitman and formerly of 
Shubuta, will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from Bethlehem 
Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Terry Jones officiating. 
Visitation will be from 12-6 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 from the Chapel 
of Turner Funeral Home.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at the church 
cemetery.
Born on Nov. 29, 1954, she was a Homemaker.
She died on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Diversicare of Quitman.
She is survived by her brothers, Curtis Caver and Johnny Ray Caver; and 
her sister and brother-in-law, Susie and J.W. Polk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.

Funeral services for Vera Mae Davis, 73, of Waynesboro, were conducted 
on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from New Jordan Baptist Church, with Rev. 
Alfred James officiating.
Born on Jan. 22, 1952, she was a Domestic Laborer.
She died on Monday, April 21, 2025 at Pine View Health and 
Rehabilitation Center in Waynesboro.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Armanda and Gary 
Shanks of Waynesboro, Regina and Jerry Owens of Waynesboro and Patty and 
Rob Eisenlohr of Vandalia, Ohio; her brothers, Bennie James, Jimmy Lee, 
Gary Lee and Murry Lee Smith, all of Waynesboro, and Bennie Fred Smith 
of Hattiesburg; her sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Dixon, Sarah 
Davis and Bertha and Milton West, all of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren 
and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son and a 
brother.

Funeral services for Bennie Lee James Gandy, 78, of Buckatunna, were 
conducted on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from Sweet Pilgrim Missionary 
Baptist Church, with Apostle Mafalda Taylor and Rev. Donald Gandy 
officiating.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
Born on Dec. 8, 1946, he was a retired Logger.
He died on Friday, April 18, 2025 at Wayne General Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred E. Gandy of Buckatunna; his son, 
Chandler Caver; his daughter, Zion Caver; his brother and sister-in-law, 
Samuel and Gloria Jean Gandy of Shreveport, La.; and his sisters and 
brothers-in-law, Diane and John Leverette of Moss Point, Patricia and 
Jerry Horn and Mary Edith and John Wayne Adams of McIntosh, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, other infant 
siblings, his mother- and father-in-law, his brothers-in-law and a 
sister-in-law.

Funeral services for Christopher Columbus Parker, Jr., 69, of Shubuta, 
were conducted on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from Little Rock AME Church 
in Carmichael, with Rev. Donald Kinslow officiating.
Interment followed at Zion Chapel Cemetery in Shubuta.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Kutrinah 
Jones of Crandall and Christopher Clark of Gulfport; his daughters and 
sons-in-law, Janice and Jeremiah McDougle of Atmore, Ala., Sharon Glenn 
of Quincy, Ill., and Sommer and Bentley Booth of Laurel; his sister and 
brother-in-law, Pearlie Mae and Roger Bonner; his brothers, Albert Lee 
Parker and Kelly Parker; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 
special friends in Pat Miller and Dale Harris and a host of nieces, 
nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher Columbus Parker, 
Sr., and Willie Mae Parker.

LORENE LOUISE EDWARDS MCINTOSH
March 4, 1939-April 13, 2025
Graveside services for Lorene Louise Edwards McIntosh, 86, of Mobile, 
Ala., and formerly of Shubuta, were conducted on Friday, April 25, 2025 
from New Hope Cemetery in Shubuta, with Pastor David Edwards 
officiating.
Born on March 4, 1939, she was a Domestic Laborer.
She died on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at The Retreat Hospice by SADD in 
Mobile, Ala.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Edwards of Shubuta; her 
brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Rose Edwards, Jr., of Akron, Ohio; 
her sisters, Donna Moss of Shubuta and Gracie Rogers of Meridian; two 
grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and 
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-parents, her husband, 
two sisters and six brothers.

Funeral services for Jenesa Bashir Nelson, 42, of Shubuta, were 
conducted on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from New Mt. Zion United Methodist 
Church, with Pastor Steven Willis officiating.
Interment followed at Brook Cemetery.
Born on Aug. 28, 1982, she was attended the University of Southern 
Mississippi and was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
She died on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Wayne General Hospital.
She is survived by her son, Channing Mitchell of Shubuta; her mother, 
Gloria Jean Nelson of Shubuta; her father, Jerry Sibley of Buckatunna; 
her aunt, Vivian McFarland of Shubuta; seven sisters; her brothers and 
sisters-in-law, Jerry and Temekia Sibley, Jr., of Memphis, Tenn. and 
Kerry and Stacey Sibley of Pearl; four cousins; her godmother, Jeanie 
McDonald of Shubuta; her god-sister, Traci Williams of Shubuta; and her 
devoted friend, Latoria Heard of Shubuta.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Viola Pore; and 
her maternal uncles, Ronald Nelson, Charles Nelson and Mack Nelson.
