WCSD dismissing classes early Tuesday ahead of storm threat

Classes in Wayne County will dismiss at 1 p.m. Tuesday as school officials try to get ahead of the severe weather being forecast.

Superintendent of Education Tommy Branch made the announcement Monday evening as consulting with local emergency management officials. The main concern is having buses on the roadways as storms that could bring tornadoes and strong winds to the area are predicted.

Severe weather is projected to roll through the Southeast Tuesday and into Wednesday morning, bringing strong winds, heavy rains and the threat of tornadoes and hail. All residents are asked to take precautions as the system makes its way through the area.
