War Eagles Solid In Jamboree

Wayne County High School looked solid in a Friday night football jamboree at home against Northeast Lauderdale, with both the varsity and JV squads coming away with wins.
The varsity took a 14-0 win in its half of play while the JV rolled to a 24-0 victory. Now, the War Eagles prepare for the season opener at home on Friday, Aug. 30 against Williamson (Ala.)
In the varsity half, on the second play of the night, Jacob Bowles hooked up with Tyrease Estes on a 66-yard touchdown pass. The Rony Gonzalez extra point made it 7-0 with 11:15 left in the opening quarter of play.
In the second quarter, with 8:21 remaining, Pat Hamilton hauled in a 28-yard pass from Bowles and the Gonzalez kick made it 14-0.
In the first half, which was JV action, Bradley Sajoun caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Hudson Mills with 6:57 left. Shundrell Miller ran in the conversion to make it 8-0.
With 6:23 left in the second quarter, Zavier Estes caught a 14-yard pass from Mills and Jezharian McCann ran in the conversion to open up a 16-0 lead.
Finally, with 4:55 remaining, Sajoun hauled in a 7-yard scoring pass from Mills, with Miller running in the conversion to close out the scoring.
