MAXIE HENDERSON BRUCE, JR.

Funeral services for Maxie Henderson Bruce, Jr., 70, of Waynesboro, will
be at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024 from Bridgeway Church in
Waynesboro, with Dr. DeJuan Walley and Rev. David Grayson officiating.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024 from
Bridgeway Church.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Shubuta
Cemetery in Clarke County.
Born in Jackson on Thursday, Sept. 17, 1953 to Maxie Henderson Bruce,
Sr., and Sara Conerly Bruce, he was raised in Pinola, where he attended
Pinola High School. He later graduated from Mississippi State University
in 1975 with a Bachelor's degree in Poultry Science. He moved to
Waynesboro, where he started his career at Marshall Durbin.
After meeting the love of his life, Charlotte Martiniere, they were wed
in holy matrimony in 1976. They decided to settle and began a family,
raising four children. He later retired as a Sales and Service
Representative with Eaton Corporation.
He died on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024 at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Brandy Bruce of
Hattiesburg; three daughters and sons-in-law, Stacie Bruce and Will
Scott of Houston, Brooke Bruce and John Robert Ward of Laurel and
Brittney Bruce and Matt McAfee of Starkville; and nine grandchildren,
Carter Scott, Lee Scott, Gracie Bruce, Sophie Bruce, Bayleigh Bruce,
Keagan Ward, Cole Ward, Reese McAfee and Sally McAfee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Martiniere Bruce; his
parents, Maxie Henderson Bruce, Sr., and Sara Conerly Bruce; and his
sister, Melody Bruce Musgrove.
Pallbearers will be Chris Gandy, Frank Gandy, Brent Freeman, Brent
Barry, Todd Graham and Trey Chapman. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy
Dickerson, Ennis King, Larry Gandy, Allen Torrey and Richard Ward.

Funeral services for Roy Terrell "Terry" Clanton, Jr., 75, of
Waynesboro, were conducted on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024 from the Chapel of
Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev. DeJuan Walley and Rev. Adam Walley
officiating.
Interment followed at Coyt Cemetery.
Born in Laurel on Thursday, Dec. 9, 1948 to the late Roy Terrell
Clanton, Sr., and M.L. Clanton, he served in the United States Army and
was a Veteran of Vietnam. He was a faithful and devoted member of
Bridgeway Church, where he served as a Deacon and sang with the Praise
and Worship Team. He was affectionately known as the "Candyman."
He retired as Owner and Operator of Clanton Pest, Inc. He loved his
family and will always be remembered as an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed
all types of hunting, but his passion was turkey hunting. Throughout his
life, he could always be found in the woods or fishing.
He was always the "Life of the Party," no matter where he was ---
whether is was telling jokes or talking like Donald Duck. He loved
people and never met a stranger.
He died on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024 at Wayne General Hospital.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Betty Evans Clanton of
Waynesboro; his son, Trevor Blake Clanton of Waynesboro; his daughter
and son-in-law, Chandler Clanton and Kevin Chance of Waynesboro; his
sister and brother-in-law, Elaine Clanton and Bobby Watkins of
Waynesboro; his grandchildren, Courtlyn Noelle Clanton, Blakely Faith
Chance and Brynleigh Grace Chance; the only expected grandson (Aug. 20,
2024), Brantley Terrell Chance; and his faithful fur babies, Maxx, Milo,
Maggie, WeeWee, Blue and Sweet Baby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Terrell Clanton, Sr., and
M.L. Clanton.

L. Powe, his main hobby was baseball. He enjoyed coaching others in the
sport.
He died on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at his residence.
