Schools closed on Wednesday due to severe weather threat

All classes at Wayne Academy and throughout the Wayne County School District have been cancelled for Wednesday due to the threat of severe weather.

First Baptist Early Learning Center has also announced that it will be closed on Wednesday.

Severe weather is expected to make its way through the area starting early Wednesday morning, with the threat remaining through most of the day. According to forecasts, strong thunderstorms, winds of up to 60 miles per hour or more and the possibility of hail and even tornadoes are possible.

Residents are asked to be alert and aware of changing weather conditions throughout the day Wednesday and to limit travel when the storms are at their peak.
