An early morning raid on Monday resulted in two arrests with more
expected in the near future.
Agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, troopers with the
Mississippi Highway Patrol and deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff's
Department worked together to execute a raid in Buckatunna in the early
morning hours Monday. Two suspects were booked into the Wayne County
Adult Detention Center but their names were not being released due to
the investigating continuing.
Both suspects were booked into the jail shortly after 7 a.m.
According to sources, the raid is part of an ongoing investigation into
drug sales in the area. Some suspects are still being sought, including
some federal arrest warrants waiting to be executed by authorities.
Law enforcement blocked off entrances to the area, including blocking
Lacey Road off Highway 45, in order to keep unnecessary personnel and
people from entering the area for safety concerns.
A SWAT Team and a vehicle with the ability to enter buildings and knock
blockades was deployed to the scene.
This is an ongoing investigation and officials are not releasing
information at this time.
