Sheriff's deputies detained a juvenile Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly made a threat against Clara School.

According to Superintendent of Education Tommy Branch, the juvenile was not a student in the school district. A Dixie Electric employee saw the juvenile walking along the road and stopped to see if he needed assistance.

Branch said the juvenile was giving the adult vague answers so the Dixie Electric employee contacted the Sheriff's Office. When deputies arrived, the juvenile, who was carrying a weapon, made a threat about shooting Clara School. The juvenile was detained and taken into custody.

Branch said schools across the district were secured and no students, teachers nor staff were in danger. He praised the efforts of the unnamed Dixie Electric employee for being alert to his surroundings and notifying the proper authorities.
