Wayne County High School's girls basketball team struggled but used the free throw line in overtime to pull out a 41-35 win over Brookhaven Friday night in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

The Lady War Eagles now advance to the second round, where Florence awaits. That game will be played Friday at 4 p.m. at Pearl River Community College.

WCHS fought and struggled throughout the first four quarters of play, with things knotted at 33-all at the end of regulation. In the four-minute overtime, the Lady War Eagles hit 6-of-8 free throws to ice the game.

Lakyn McGrew led the offense with 13 points while Ariel Parker poured in 12.
