Schools closed again on Wednesday due to road conditions and extreme cold

January 15, 2024

Schools in Wayne County will be closed for a second day on Wednesday after officials determined that the chance of hazardous road conditions and extreme cold would cause challenges for students, teachers and staff.

The announcement was made by Assistant Superintendent of Education Lynn Revette at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Schools were also closed on Tuesday due to the wintry mix of weather making its way through the area. With school buses leaving on their routes before daybreak, the chance of icy and slick roads is great Wednesday. That and the extremely cold temperatures being forecast prompted the decision to close schools for a second day in a row.

Everyone is reminded to be careful while driving as patches of roadways and especially bridges can ice easily in the current conditions.
