A memorial service for Albert Franklin Elliott, Sr., 82, of Waynesboro,

will be conducted by his family at a later date.

Born in Waynesboro on Thursday, July 17, 1941 to Ben Elliott and Lela

Collins, he retired as a Roustabout in the oil field industry.

He died on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024 at his residence.

He is survived by his son, Frankie Elliott, Jr., of Waynesboro; three

daughters and two sons-in-law, Monica Doherty or Laurel, Jackie L. and

Joey Sellers and Courtney L. and Kenneth Odom, Jr., all of Waynesboro;

seven grandchildren, Joshua Ferguson, Jacob Ferguson, Robin Hagan,

Jasmine Smith, Dylan McMichael, Tank Wilson and Tucker Odom; and a host

of great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Elliott; his father, Ben

Elliott; and his mother, Lela Collins.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024 from the

Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and

family from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024 from the Parlor of Freeman

Funeral Home.

Born in Waynesboro on Thursday, Aug. 1, 1957 to the late G B and Joan

Davis, she worked as a Pharmacy Technician with Wayne General Hospital.

She died on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024 at Regency Hospital-Meridian in

Meridian.

She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, David Maroney of

Waynesboro; her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Haley Maroney of

Auburn, Ala.; two grandchildren, Hadley and Hudson; her brother and

sister-in-law, Tony and JoAnn Davis of Lucedale; two sisters and

brothers-in-law, Lynn and Bobby Noland of Sweetwater, Ala., and Martha

and Guy DeSantis of Frannie, Wyo.; and a host of nieces, nephews,

great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, G B and Joan Davis.

KAREN MICHELLE DAVIS HENKE

Funeral services for Karen Michelle Davis Henke, 52, of Quitman, were

conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024 from the chapel of Wright's

Funeral Home, with Rev. Bo Bankston officiating.

Born on May 26, 1971 to Elton and Delois (Burt) Davis in Waynesboro, she

was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She had a love for horses

and was an avid flower gardener. She was a registered nurse who loved

serving others in her community, including children in the church and

the elderly.

She died on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024 at Anderson's Hospital.

She is survived by two sons, Dillon B. Henke and Samuel C. Henke; her

father, Elton Davis; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pam Davis and Mark

Lennon and Lisa Davis and Joe Jones; two brothers and a sister-in-law,

Bo Davis and Spencer and Heather Davis; and several nieces, nephews and

extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Delois Burt Davis.

Funeral services for Pruett "R.P." Hollingshead, 89, of Waynesboro,

were conducted on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024 from the Chapel of Freeman

Funeral Home, with Rev. John Brown and Rev. Don Fulmer officiating.

Interment followed at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro.

Born in Wayne County on Thursday, Dec. 13, 1934 to the late Grover and

Nola Mae Hollingshead, he was a member of Progress Assembly of God

Church. He retired from the oil field industry and later with Wayne

County as a Truck Driver.

He died on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024 at Wayne General Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Vera Hollingshead of

Waynesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Elgin McInnis of

Waynesboro; a grandson, Eric McInnish of Waynesboro; and a host of

nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Nola Mae

Hollingshead; a grandson, Adam McInnis; three brothers, Truett

Hollingshead, Carlis Hollingshead and Jefferson Hollingshead; and seven

sisters, Ena Taylor, Lena Smith, Ruth Williams, Edith Taylor, Fannie

Taylor, Priscella Hollingshead and Nola Grace Overstreet.

Funeral services for Hurstler "Herky" Beard, 75, of Waynesboro were

conducted on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral

Interment followed in Hebron Cemetery in Wayne County.

Born in Quitman on Saturday, Aug. 7, 1948 to the late Mabry Ollie Beard,

Sr., and Gladys (Smith) Beard, he was a member of Hebron Methodist

Church. He retired as Vice President-Sales Manager at North Pacific

after 28 years. After retirement, he went into business for himself,

opening E Beard Lumber Company.

He died on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024 at Forrest General Hospital in

Hattiesburg.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Evelon (Spruell) Beard of

Waynesboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Janet Beard of

State Line and Mark and Megan Beard of Ellisville; his sister, Dorothy

"Dot" Parker of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Brennan, Channing,

Collin, Alexis, Kross and Navy Kate; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabry Ollie Beard, Sr., and

Gladys (Smith) Beard; his brother, Mabry Ollie Beard, Jr.; and his

sister, Jimmie Dunagin.

Pallbearers were Charles Keith Parker, Elijah Parker, Reggie Parker,

Larry Gandy, Frank Gandy and Ben Gandy.

Blakely, Kenyon and Missler Jordan and Kyson Jordan; a daughter, Jasmine

Jordan; a stepdaughter; his mother, Mae Dessie Morgan of Waynesboro; two

sisters, a god brother, three nephews, a god sister, a niece and two

grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerrell Lynn Harris; and William

Harold Morgan, Jr.

Born on Jan. 17, 1945, she was a School Teacher in the Wayne County

School District.

She died on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023 in Waynesboro.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, R.P. Staten; her son, John

Staten; her siblings and their respective spouses, Bobby Staten, Prince

and Carolyn Staten, Rose McDonald, Jessie Yates and Sylvia McDonald; and

a grandchild, Kristen Lauren Staten.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Effie Turner McDonald; her

father, Collie McDonald; and two brothers, Jimmy and Willie C. McDonald.
