County Burn Ban Lifted

During Thursday's meeting of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors, it was decided to lift the burn ban that has been in place since August.

Wayne County was placed under the ban due to dry conditions and lack of rain. During Thursday's meeting, it was decided that enough rain had fallen for the burn ban to expire.

Residents are reminded to still be careful when burning outdoors. Dry conditions can quickly return, and embers from even a controlled burn can ignite other areas and cause grass fires and other similar fires, which can endanger property, homes and lives.
