A missing 70-year-old man has been found and he is safe and in an area hospital.

Fred Glenn "FreeG" Johnson, 70, was reported missing Saturday morning. He had last been seen at Norman's Food Outlet on Thursday.

Waynesboro Police Department Investigations Commander Don Hopkins worked with the family to get Johnson's name, photo and description placed in state and federal databases on Saturday, and he asked for help from the public in possibly locating the man.

Family members said Johnson suffers from a medical condition that might impair his judgment.

Hopkins and other law enforcement officials continued the search Saturday, with Wayne County Sheriff's Department Investigator Matt Ishee confirming Saturday night that Johnson was a patient at South Central Regional Medical Center.

According to Hopkins, Johnson was struck by a vehicle on Highway 85 Friday morning and he suffered a broken arm as a result of the accident. He was transported to SCRMC and was reported to be in stable condition.

Officials contacted the family to let them know Johnson had been located and was safe.
