Missing 11-year-old found safe

The Wayne County Sheriff's Department reported around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday that the missing 11-year-old girl who had been missing since Tuesday night has been found and is safe.

Earlier Wednesday, Chief Deputy Jason Wiggins asked the public for information about the whereabouts of 11-year-old Layla Turner. She was last seen around 9 p.m. Tuesday at 39 John Paul Palmer Dr. Shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Wiggins reported that she had been found and was safe.

Wiggins said he wanted to thank everyone who helped in the search for Turner, and that he was happy that she has been located and reunited with her guardians.
