One man is dead and two more critically wounded after all three were
discovered in a vehicle near Deep Well early Wednesday morning.
According to Waynesboro Police Department Investigations Commander Lt.
Don Hopkins, all three night officers from the WPD were called to the
scene of a possible shooting around 2:15 a.m. Wednesday. Once on the
scene, officers determined that the incident happened outside the city
limits and simply secured the scene until Sheriff's Deputies could
arrive.
Three victims were found in the vehicle and appeared to be suffering
from gunshot wounds. Ambulances from Wayne General Hospital arrived
shortly after the WPD officers and transported the trio to the local
hospital.
One person was pronounced dead while the other two victims are in
critical but stable condition, Hopkins said.
"We simply secured the scene upon our arrival," Hopkins said.
"Once the deputies arrived shortly after our officers got there, the
scene was turned over to the Sheriff's Department."
