Funeral services for Carol Jordan, 74, of Buckatunna, will be at 2 p.m.

Thursday, May 4, 2023 from Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church in

Chicora, with Rev. Jim Koen and Rev. Bryan Jordan officiating.

Interment will follow in Zion Rest Cemetery in Buckatunna.

Born in Waynesboro on Monday, Dec. 6, 1948 to the late Ted and Gladys

Gardner, she was a member of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church. She

retired as a Bus Driver with the Wayne County School District.

She died on Monday, May 1, 2023 at her residence in Buckatunna.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Jim T. "Jimmy" Jordan

of Buckatunna; two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Dale Walley of

Buckatunna and Jeanean and Ricky Cartwright of State Line; two brothers

and a sister-in-law, Charles Gardner of State Line and Ralph and Bess

Gardner of Buckatunna; six sisters and three brothers-in-law, Vermel and

Fred Andrews of Buckatunna, Dorothy and Hilton Brewer of Millry, Ala.,

Vera Merrill of Waynesboro, Mary "Tilly" Lofton of Waynesboro, Debbie

Bayles of Buckatunna and Sharon and Hilton Dearmon of Millry; eight

grandchildren and their respective spouses, Hayley and Deke Cochran of

Buckatunna, Caleb Cartwright of State Line, Chase Harris of Buckatunna,

Hunter and Allison Walley of Buckatunna, Laken and Justin Guy of

Waynesboro, Jaylin and James Toomey of Millry, Chloe Cartwright of State

Line and Harrison Walley of Buckatunna; and four great-grandchildren,

Paisley Cochran, Easton Cochran, Tuff Guy and Jaycee Toomey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Gladys Gardner; her

daughter, Jimmie Carol O'neal; two brothers, Dennis Gardner and Wayne

Gardner; and her sister, Shirley Lofton.

BRENDA HEATHCOCK HUGHES

Oct. 26, 1959-April 30, 2023

Funeral services for Brenda Heathcock Hughes, 63, of Waynesboro, will be

at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral

Home, with Seth Sullivan and Steve Harris officiating. Visitation will

be from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 from the Parlor of Freeman

Funeral Home.

Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Serenity

Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro.

Born in Waynesboro on Monday, Oct. 26, 1959 to Nolan Heathcock and Wilma

Heathcock, she was a member roof Waynesboro Church of Christ. She

retired as a School Teacher. In addition to being a teacher, she hosted

foreign exchange students from all over the world.

She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader and was also a Photojournalist for The

Wayne County News, Sea Coast Echo in Bay St. Louis and Gulf Coast Media.

She died on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at University of Mississippi Medical

Center in Jackson.

She is survived by her husband, Eric Hughes of Waynesboro; two sisters

and a brother-in-law, Lenette Heathcock of Laurel and Suzette Heathcock

and Lance Fulgham of Laurel; a niece, Alyssa Fulgham of Laurel; a

nephew, Alex Fulgham of Laurel; and a foster sister, Rose Levoy of

Laurel.

She was preceded in death her father, Nolan Heathcock; and her mother,

Wilma Heathcock.

Funeral services for Barbara Douglas, 93, of Waynesboro, were conducted

on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with

Dr. Terry Williams and Jody Phillips officiating.

Interment followed at Providence Cemetery in State Line.

Born in Waynesboro on Tuesday, April 22, 1930 to the late Henry B. and

Bertha E. Adams, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Buckatunna.

She was retired as a Teller at First State Bank.

She died on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Brookwood Villa Personal Care Home in

Waynesboro.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Deborah

Douglas of Waynesboro; two granddaughters and their respective spouses,

Kristina and Will Wheat of Hattiesburg and Lauren and Stanley Farrar of

Laurel; and four great-granddaughters, Rachel Wheat, Madison Wheat,

Katherine Farrar and Avery Farrar.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bunyon Douglas; her parents,

Henry B. and Bertha E. Adams; and her daughter, Ellen Dell Douglas.

PATRICIA "PAT" LANGLEY

Feb. 3, 1938-April 28, 2023

Funeral services for Patricia "Pat" Langley, 85, of Waynesboro, were

conducted on Monday, May 1, 2023 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral

Home, with Dr. Steve Smith and Rev. David Roberson officiating.

Interment followed at Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Waynesboro.

Born in Chicora on Thursday, Feb. 3, 1938 to Edward and Willie Jones,

she was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. Of her many

accomplishments, one of her proudest moments was when she received her

Certificate of Proficiency of the Grand Chapter of the State of

Mississippi Order of the Eastern Star.

From 1969 to 1980, she was the Deputy Clerk for the Tax

Collector/Assessor of Wayne County. In 1980, she was elected Tax

Assessor and Collector of Wayne County, where she served until her

retirement in 1996. While in office, she received many certificates of

recognition, one of them being a Commendation from Governor Kirk

Fordice.

She was a loving wife of 61 years, mother, grandmother and

great-grandmother. She was the light of her family who she loved

fiercely and adoringly. She was the essence of a genteel Southern Lady.

She died on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Southern Living Specialty Care

Residency in Waynesboro.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Brenda Langley

of Waynesboro; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Brown and Greg Wingham

of Sharon; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Grant Jones, Jimmy and

Lue Ella Jones and Billy and Barbara Jones; two sisters, Etta Lee Gordon

and Cecile Walley; a sister-in-law, Grady Sue Jones; three grandchildren

and their respective spouses, Jason Langley, Patric Langley and Lacy and

Kristen Brown; three step-grandchildren and their respective spouses,

Michael and Andrea Brown, Kathryn Brown and Jessica and Phil Vanderford;

three step-great-grandchildren and her best friend, Sundial Evans

Knight.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carter Latrell Langley; her

parents, Edward and Willie Jones; her brother, Frank Jones; and two

sisters, Christine Peterson and Bobbie Stanard.

Funeral services for Robert Mack McCaa, 70, of Buckatunna, were

conducted on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral

Interment followed at Buckatunna Free Will Baptist Cemetery.

Born in Waynesboro on Saturday, Feb. 7, 1953 to Jessie Lee McCaa and

Bessie Maxine McCaa, he was a member of Buckatunna Free Will Baptist

Church. He had worked as a Production Gauger in the oilfield industry.

He died on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Wayne General Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Lee McCaa of Buckatunna; four sons

and a daughter-in-law, Adam McCaa of Pensacola, Fla., Landon McCaa of

Chicora, Zachary D. and Erica Curry of Baton Rouge, La. and Joshua N.

Curry of Waynesboro; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Billy Joe McCaa

of Buckatunna and Mike and Robin McCaa of Waynesboro; two sisters,

Bobbie McCaa of Texas and Kathy McCaa of Chicora; three grandchildren,

Abagail McCaa, Kadey Reese McCaa and Kendal Reid McCaa; his best friend,

Joe Cochran; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Lee McCaa; his mother,

Bessie Maxine McCaa; his brother, Jimmy McCaa; and two sisters-in-law,

Cindy McCaa and Linda McCaa.

MARY CULPEPPER PALMER

July 14, 1938-April 23, 2023

Funeral services for Mary Culpepper Palmer, 84, of Waynesboro, were

conducted on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from Liberty Baptist Church, with

Rev. Phillip Gandy and Rev. Marvin "Bo" Farrior officiating.

Interment followed at Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Waynesboro.

Born on July 14, 1938 in Wayne County to George William Culpepper and

Effie Mondale Culpepper, in 1958 she married the love of her life,

Virgil Allen Palmer, from Wayne County. In 1963, they built their home

in Wayne County, where they reared their three children.

She worked at Sigler-Bunch Insurance Agency until 1985. She then

continued working alongside her husband in the family business, Quality

Plywood, Inc., which they established in 1976, until her retirement.

She was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church since 1963.

A loving wife for nearly 62 years, a mother, grandmother and

great-grandmother, she was the matriarch of her family, whom she loved

unconditionally and sacrificially. A life of service will be her legacy.

She died on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at South Central Regional Medical

Center in Laurel. The family celebrates this day because they know to be

absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Reggie and Denise Palmer

of Waynesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Alecia and Steve Wood of

Waynesboro; a son, Raymond Palmer of Waynesboro; two brothers, Ronald

Culpepper of Deer Park, Ala., and Darrel Culpepper of Laurel; six

grandchildren and their respective spouses, Lauren and Josh Etheridge of

Petal, Christen and Brady Raanes of Hattiesburg, Holly and Bobby Shirley

of New York, N.Y., Steve and Raquel Wood of Laurel, Erin and Larry

Pacific of Laurel and Julie Anna and Jason Perry of Greensboro, Ala.; 18

great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil A. Palmer; her father,

George W. Culpepper; her mother, Effie Mondale Culpepper; sisters Hazel

Sellers and Connie Farrior; and brothers William "Bill" Culpepper and

Robert "Bobby" Culpepper.

Funeral services for Morris Mason, 77, of Waynesboro, were conducted on

Born in Waynesboro on Saturday, April 13, 1946 to Obie Mason and Stella

Mason, he was a member of Water Oak Baptist Church. He retired as an Oil

Well Consultant in the oilfield industry.

He died on Monday, April 24, 2023 at his residence.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Mason of Waynesboro; his son and

daughter-in-law, Robby and Wanda Mason of Waynesboro; his daughter and

son-in-law, Kim and Keith Bunch of Waynesboro; two brothers and

sisters-in-law, Charlie and Janice Mason of Buckatunna and Ronnie and

Melissa Mason of Waynesboro; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Dors

Funeral services for Andrew "Andy" Hoeflich, 80, of Lucedale, were

conducted on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from Abundant Grace Church in

Lucedale, with Rev. Randy Salisbury and Rev. Ray Newsome officiating.

Interment followed at Okwakee Cemetery in Vinegar Bend, Ala.

Born in Hackensack, N.J., on Friday, Oct. 2, 1942 to the late Andrew

Joseph Hoeflich and Opal Manning, he was a dedicated member of Abundant

Grace in Lucedale. He was retired as a Self-Employed Furniture Salesman.

He died on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Providence Hospital in Mobile,

Ala., surrounded by is loving family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Shelia Hoeflich of

Lucedale; his son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Kathy Hoeflich of

Waynesboro; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Venessa and Pete Cooley

and Mary and David West, all of Clara, and Candice Hoeflich of Lucedale;

10 grandchildren and their respective spouses, Josh and Shala West of

Clara, Rashae Gagley of Richton, Kayla and Adam West, Kyle and Heather

West, all of Clara, Colby and Allyson Cooley of Petal, Hannah Wilkins of

Clara, Lane and Tiffany Hoeflich of Waynesboreo, Jayleen Hoeflich,

Kyliee Eubanks and Bryliee Eubanks, all of Lucedale; 10

great-grandchildren, Maddie Pitts, Braxton Williams, Addyson "Opal"
