CHARLES A. BURNS

July 8, 2022

A Celebration of Life ceremony for Charles A. Burns, 87, of Leakesville,

will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from Moments Funeral Home

in Leakesville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the

service.

He was a 1952 graduate of Beat Four High School. He furthered his

education at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned a

Bachelor of Science degree. He had many memberships to several Baptist

churches in many states throughout the south in his lifetime.

He was a talented author, poet, songwriter and businessman. He enjoyed

traveling internationally to spread the Gospel. He will be remembered as

a Godly man with a dry wit. He was a devoted husband and the best daddy

and grandpa ever.

He died peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2022.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Hazel Burns; his daughters and

sons-in-law, Karen and Tony Gray, Kathy and Willie Dyson and Krystal

Lewis; his grandchildren and their respective spouses, Zachery and

Jennifer Dyson, Corey and Mary Elizabeth Dyson, Casey and Krista Dyson,

Hannah and Sean Rosemeyer, Katie and Chris Stafford, Brooklyn and

Preston Harrell and Blake and Breann Lewis; 17 great-grandchildren; his

sister-in-law, Nikkie Matros; numerous nieces, nephews and other

relatives, along with friends, including the Chiv family of Houston,

Texas, whom he was proud of and loved.

He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Andrew "Andy" Burns, Jr.;

his grandson, Benjamin Lewis; his parents, William and Ethel Burns; and

his siblings, Pearl Rochelle and William Burns.

Aug. 18, 1946-July 17, 2022

Funeral services for Paul Edward Taylor, 75, of Waynesboro, were

conducted on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral

Home, with Rev. Roger Douglas officiating.

Interment followed at Community Southern Cemetery in Waynesboro.

Born in Waynesboro on Sunday, Aug. 18, 1946 to the late Lloyd Theodore

Taylor and Esther McIlwain Taylor, he attended Community Southern

Methodist church. He was retired as a Roustabout Pusher with Noble

Drilling.

He died on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Pine View Health and Rehabilitation

in Waynesboro.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Rosella

Taylor of Buckatunna; his daughter, Paula Davenport of McLain; his

stepson, David Beasley of Millry, Ala.; his stepdaughter, Linda Abston

of Waynesboro; his sister, Mary Beasley of Wayne County; three

grandchildren, Joshua Davenport, Kody Taylor and Keri Burgess; three

step-grandchildren, Jana McLain, Jalin Beasley and Jessie Abston; and a

host of great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Esther Taylor; his

wife, Evelyn Maxine Taylor; a son, Lloyd E. Taylor; a daughter-in-law,

Sonya Taylor; two brothers, Henry Taylor and Infant Taylor; a grandson,

Jeremy Davenport; and a step-granddaughter, Stacie Abston.

Funeral services for Irma Jean Chapman, 86, of Waynesboro, were

conducted on Friday, July 15, 2022 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral

Home, with Rev. Fawzy Shorrosh officiating.

Interment followed at White House Cemetery.

Born in Waynesboro on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1935 to the late Edwin O. Smith

and Mattie Cochran Smith, she was a member of Chaparral Baptist Church.

She was retired as a Factory Worker with Wells Lamont.

She died on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Wayne General Hospital.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Grover and Kathy

Hollingshead and James and Sue Hollingshead, both of Waynesboero, and

David and Kim Hollingshead of Leakesville; her daughter and son-in-law,

Kathy and Rusty Robinson of Waynesboro; two stepdaughters and their

respective spouses, Linda and William Cran and Michelle and Eddie Keyes,

all of Waynesboro; her brother, Willys Smith of Waynesboro; three

grandchildren and their respective spouses, Jerry Matthew and Ashley

Pitts of Waynesboro, Pagie Hollingshead of Waynesboro and Joshua and

Annebeth Holingshead of Wayensboero; eight great-grandchildren and a

host of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Chapman; her parents,

Edwin O. and Mattie C. Smith; a brother, Lavelle Smith; and a sister,

Lucille Lindsey.

Funeral services for Janice Cook, 83, of Waynesboro, were conducted on

Thursday, July 14, 2022 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with

Rev. Tamber Proctor officiating.

Interment followed at Antioch Assembly Cemetery.

Born in Waynesboro on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1938 to John Williams and

Lizzie Davis Williams, she was a member of Antioch Assembly of God

Church. She was a Homemaker.

She died on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Wayne General Hospital.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William Gary and Kristy

B. Cook; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cindy and Roy Cooley of

Laurel, Nickley and Sheldon Bonner of Clara and Penny Trest of

Waynesboro; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.C. Cook; her father, John

Williams; her mother, Lizzie Williams; her brother, John W. Williams;

and four sisters, Sandra Faye Williams, Emma Margaret Williams,

Elizabeth Ann Williams and Patricia Ann Williams.

Waynesboro, were conducted on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Serenity

Gardens Cemetery, with John Temple officiating.

Born on April 7, 1946, she lived in Madison for several years.

She died on Wednesday, July 6, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nettie Claire Prather; her

father, William Arnold "Bill" Prather; and a sister, Peggy Lynn Barbaron

of Waynesboro.

Twenty-Third Psalm: "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He

maketh me lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me besides the still

waters. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of

righteousness for HIs namesake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of

the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for Thou arts with me; They rod

and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table before me in the

presence of mine enemies. Thou anoints my head with oil, my cup runneth

Funeral services for Arthur Curtis "Saul" Nelson, Sr., 75, of Quitman,

were conducted on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from The Living Church of God

Pentecostal Church in Quitman, with Rev. Cornelius McDonald officiating.

Interment followed at Archusa Memorial Gardens in Quitman.

Born on July 4, 1946, he was an Insurance Agent with Turner Funeral

Home, a former Clarke County Supervisor, a Board Member of Outreach

Health Clinic, a member of Masonic Lodge 407 and a Deacon and Trustee at

Pearlie Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

He died on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at his residence.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Arthur "Artie"

and Shenikia Nelson, Jr., of Newton, Jeffery Nelson of Richmond, Texas

and Alfonzo and Letischa McDyess of Atlanta, Ga.; his daughter, Bridgett

Katrice Nelson of Pearl; a sister, Shirley Ruth Winbush of Albany, N.Y.;

his grandchildren, Carve, Romerian, Demeris, A'Keyia, Arteus, Keshawna,

Aquon, Ariya, Braxton, Abella and Zaven; a special friends, Earlie Mae

Gray; and two godchildren, Ronnie and Nicoria.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, seven sisters, two

brothers and a grandson.

Born on June 13, 1949, she was a retired Hotel Housekeeper.

She died on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at her residence.

She is survived by her son, Dwayne Santiago; two sisters, Mary Jane

Owens and Velma Owens; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and
