Graveside services for Donald Maxey Burnett, 81, of Prattville, Ala., were conducted on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021 from Prattville Memory Gardners, with Rev. Dave Burns officiating.

He was employed with the railroad for more than 35 years. He was a part of Prattville Dixie Youth Baseball for many years and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He also loved hunting, fishing and growing his award-winning tomatoes and other vegetables.

He died on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021 at his residence.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Merrir F. Burnett; his son and daughter-in-law, Donald Mazey and Leigh Burnett, JR.; his daughter and son-in-law, Stacy Burnett and Scott Walters; two granddaughters and their respective spouses, Stephanie Gourlet and Daniel Taylor and Erin Leighann Burnett and her fiance, Joe Massey; two grandsons, Donald "Tripp" Maxey Burnett III and Jakob Anthony Walters; his great-granddaughter, Ava Grace Taylor; his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia Carol Burnett and John Merhtens; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ralph Daniel Burnett and Williams "Bill" Marvin and Pat Burnett; his sister-in-law, Patsy Burnett; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Roy Burnett, Sr., and Anne Rice Maxey Burnett; a daughter, Ethel Rachelle "Shelley" Burnett; three sisters, JoAnn Burnett Landry, Beverly Gail Burnett Brown and Frances Gay Burnett Montalbano; and two brothers, George Roy Burnett, Jr., and Richard Lowery Burnett.

Pallbearers were Donny, Tripp, Joe Jakob, Scott and Jason.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Prattville or Comfort Care Hospice.

Prattville Memorial was in charge of arrangements.
