Funeral services for Huey Harrison, 86, of Strengthford, will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from the Chapel of Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev. Darrell Lloyd and Rev. Richard Bates officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Crossroad Cemetery in Strengthford.
Born in Wayne County on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 1943 to Zack Harrison and Ruby S. Harrison, he was a member of Crossroad Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force and was a Veteran of the Korean War.
He was stationed in Iceland and, upon his return from duty, he married his sweetheart, Jeanette Walker. He was then stationed in Nebraska before her was discharged with honors and moved back with his wife to Strengthford to start their lives together.
They worked at the Blanket Factory together, and he then worked as a Production Foreman with Amerada Hess Oil Corporation for 25 years.
He died on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at his residence while surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Freda Harrison of Strengthford; his daughter, Annette Stevison of Strengthford; four grandchildren, Michele Boyles, Qyuinna Airhart, Chastity Presely and Christity Napp; several great-grandchildren, Stevison Ray Presley, Noah Napp, Ethan Napp, Andy Airhart, Max Airhart, Eian Airhart and Brennyn Boyles; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Jeanette Harrison; his father, Zack Harrison; his mother, Ruby S. Harrison; two brothers, Frank “Buck” Harrison and Earvin Harrison; and two sisters, Alice Holifield and Hazel Williams.
Pallbearers will be James Harrison, Chris Harrison, Matthew Harrison, Mike Walker, George Presley and Woody Newsome.
