Funeral services for Sylvia Edna Gradner, 78, of State Line, will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from Eret Baptist Church in State Line, with Rev. Glenn Bynum officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2021 from the Parlor of Freeman Funeral Home, followed a lie-in-state from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Eret Baptist Church.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Eret Cemetery.
Born in Washington County, Ala., on Thursday, Aug. 13, 1942 to Ben and Mae Dixon, she was a member of Eret Baptist Church. She was a Homemaker who was a great cook, and she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She died on Friday, April 2, 2021 at her residence.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Gardner and Roger Gardner, both of State Line; her brother, Marvin Dixon of Panama City, Fla.; two sisters, Lora Mitchell of Millry, Ala., and Sarah Persinger of Panama City; five grandchildren, Jason Stokley of Atlanta, Ga., Lindsey Merritt of Waynesboro, Victoria Brown of State Line, Bridgette Gardner of State Line and David Gardner of Ellisville; and five great-grandchildren, Waylon Merritt, Annistyn Merritt, Avery Gardner, Ora Grace Brown and Mallory Cooley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Allen Gardner; her father, Ben Dixon; her mother, Mae Dixon; her daughter, Sharon Gardner Phillips; and a brother, Fred Dixon.
