Funeral services for Laura Sue K. Clanton, 80, of Waynesboro, will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019 from Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, with Rev. Charlie Laird, Rev. Randy James and Rev. Roger Douglas officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019 from Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Born in Anguilla on Saturday, Sept. 16, 1939 to John Carroll Kendrick and Susie Kendrick, she was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She was also a volunteer at the Waynesboro-Wayne County Library’s Bookstore and an avid library patron who actively helped sponsor the Annual Tasting Bee and Whistle Stop. Most of all, she was a Christian lady who dedicated her life to serving others by being a devoted wife, loving mother, wonderful grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
She died on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019 at Brookwood Villa Personal Care Home in Waynesboro.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Duane Clanton of Waynesboro; her son and daughter-in-law, Michael Duane and Pam Clanton of Waynesboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie Clanton and John McGraw and Penny Clanton and Gary Manning, all of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren and their respective spouses, Joshua and Julia Clanton, Albany, NH, Naomi Clanton and Stephen Bodnar, Caleb and Andrea Clanton, Miriam Clanton and Josh Nicholson, Abigail Clanton, Lydia Clanton and Jake Manning, all residing in Waynesboro; seven great-grandchildren, Jude Clanton, Ave Clanton, Elijah Clanton, Emory Clanton, Emma Clanton, Aiden Bodnar and Breland Manning; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, June Cochran of Waynesboro, Linda and Mike Cancienne of Magnolia and Betty and Buddy Leonard of Summitt; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hubert and Patsy Kendrick of Waynesboro and Charles and Margaret Kendrick of Petal; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, family and pets.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Carroll Kendrick; her mother, Susie Kendrick; a sister, Jeanette Jones; and three brothers, George Kendrick, Bobby Kendrick and Willard Kendrick.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Clanton, Jake Manning, Josh Nicholson, Stephen Bodnar, Gary Manning and John McGraw. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Porter, Gerald Daughtery, Bill Gardner, Jerry McRae and Sonny Rainwater.
