Funeral services for Randy W. Evans, 70, of Coyt, will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 from Coyt Baptist Church, with Rev. Dewayne Crane officiating. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 from Coyt Baptist Church.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Coyt Cemetery.
Born in Quitman on Friday, June 6, 1947 to V.C. “Ike” Evans and Helen Gandy Evans, he was a lifelong member of and Deacon at Coyt Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam Era.
He served as Class President of the 1965 graduating class at Waynesboro Central High School and was a graduate of Jones County Junior College. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
He was retired from North Pacific Lumber, where he worked as a Lumber Broker. An avid fisherman, hunter and sports fan, he was known as a quiet and humble man — small in stature but with a very big heart. He was kind and caring to all.
He died on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at the State Veterans Home in Collins.
He is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Allison Evans Slonaker, Carly and Matt Dearman and Jill Evans; a son-in-law, Jeremy C. Slonaker; a brother and sister-in-law, Andy and Vannette Evans; a sister, Rachel Evans Stanley; and four grandchildren, Barrett Slonaker, Virginia Slonaker, Matty Beth Dearman and Colton Dearman.
He was preceded in death by his father, V.C. “Ike” Evans; his mother, Helen Evans; a grandson, Wilson Calvin Slonaker; and a brother-in-law, Teddy Stanley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Coyt Baptist Church.
