Funeral services for Luther George Gray, 84, of Waynesboro, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with Pastor Curtis Hill officiating.
Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Born on April 26, 1931, he was an electrician with U.S. Steel in Gary, Ind. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon Chairman. He died on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015 at Anderson Hospital in Meridian.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Gray; two sons and daughters-in-law, Derrick and Amy Gray and Roderick and Lena Gray; a brother, Floyd Gray; a special brother, Henry Chapman; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Annie Ruth Evans and Mary and Sidney Swanson of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Floyd and Lille Mae Gray; and a son, Charles Bowens, Sr.
McDonald and Sons Funeral Home of Waynesboro is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Ruth Brewer, 85, of Richton, were held on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 from Union Grove Assembly of God Church, with Brother Douglas Manning, Brother Justin Stinson and Brother Bobby Stinson officiating.
Interment followed at Union Cemetery.
A member of Union Grove Assembly of God Church, she was a homemaker and taught piano to an untold number of people through the years. She died on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Shiela Brewer of Waynesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Roger Brewer of Richton; and five grandchildren, Bryson Brewer, Bethany Brewer, Brooke Brewer, Keilan Cook and Hannah Cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Brewer; her parents, Les and Nancy Walley; four brothers and 10 sisters.
Jones and Son Funeral Home of Richton is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for L.V. Walters, 86, of Laurel, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015 from Strengthford First Baptist Church in Wayne County, with Rev. Bobby Boutwell and Rev. Drew Holifield officiating. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 from Strengthford First Baptist Church.
Following the funeral service, interment will take place at Strengthford First Baptist Cemetery.
A native of Wayne County, he was a member of Strengthford First Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon since 1988. He was also a member of Strengthford Masonic Lodge #568 for 60 years and was a member of Eastern Star. Retired as a supervisor with the U.S. Forest Service, he died on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Loy May Walters of the Strengthford community; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Tony Yarber, Deborah and David Lindsey and Silvia and Jimmy Ray Carlisle, all of the Strengthford community; a son-in-law, Travis Wayne Holifield of the Strengthford community; a sister, Doris Strickland of Pekinston; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Sellers Walters; his father, Luther Vernon Walters; a daughter, Glenda Holifield; six brothers and a sister.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Randy Yarber, Chris Lindsey, Drew Holifield, John Moore, Jonathan Carlisle and William Carlisle.
