One woman is dead after a two-car accident on Highway 84 Thursday.
Teresa K. Phillips, 54, of Wayne County, was pronounced dead by Wayne County Coroner David Pugh after Thursday's wreck at the intersection of Highway 84 and Magnolia Hill Road. Phillips was a passenger in the car being driven by her daughter, Heather Phillips.
A Crown Victoria collided with Phillips' Kia as one vehicle was traveling east on Highway 84 and the other vehicle was crossing the highway from Reservoir Road onto Magnolia Hill. The Crown Victoria suffered major damage to its front end but was still on Highway 84 while the Kia careened off the roadway into a ditch off the roadway.
Emergency responders used the "jaws of life" to extricate Phillips from the Kia and a Life Flight helicopter was called to the scene. The helicopter did not transport any patients, as Wayne General Hospital ambulances transported the injured to the local hospital.
The injuries of the two drivers were not known at this time.
Pugh said Teresa Phillips' body had been released to Freeman Funeral Home, but arrangements were pending.
